did some testing an narrowed it to the USP fully. even with no connections aside from RCA to amp the usp is creating a static chirp sound.
noise created via fullrange out and HIGH pass..
ideas?

No ideas, sorry, but something doesn't make sense. If you are using the full range out, then the high and low pass filters shouldn't make any difference, should they?

With the amplifier turned on and no cables connected to its input do you still hear the chirping? You probably know this already but be sure the amplifier is turned off before disconnecting the input cables.

OK, next thing to do is with only the USP connected to the amp, select the different inputs and see if it is still there on each input. Then select mute on the USP and see if it is still there.

lonnie, about it being intermittent i almost think its more of a sequence thing over wether or not it will do it again. but im clueless. i ruled out the amps as they work with no issue ran to the UMC1 ive also ruled out HTbypass on the USP as the noise is there over all inputs on USP and can be muted. also ruled out all cabling. thoughts are usp internal ? heres a vid (sorry its the best i could get uploaded) s59.photobucket.com/albums/g296/CarlPardue/?action=view¤t=IMG_0690.mp4

#1. I have no clue. I had never herd a chirping when I had my USP. Looks like you did everything I would have. #2. Dunno if it's on my end, but I could not hear any audio on the vid you posted.
Sorry for your issues. Bummed for ya.
I'll post some more thoughts when I have time to think. My kids are in need of bathing. School tomorrow!

My USP has never chirped. Have you checked for birds?
My guess is a Power Supply problem if the chirping is on both channels. The good news is there is not a USP-1 in the whole world not still covered under warranty

UPDATE:
jan 7th sent this out for repair on jan 10th emo received the unit jan 18th i emailed to check status jan 19th i got an email from janna about the issue being located and the unit being prepared and shipping jan 21st i received fedex tracking jan 25th i received the USP installed and all is well WOOT!
the service report stated a faulty phono stage, ill scan and post it shortly.
thanks EMO !
sidenote, i bought the unit used from Jason H. UN=ecod123. he was a super dude to deal with. i wasnt upset in the least about the unit and truthfully i thought my system may have the been the culprit. further tested prompted me to send the unit in. jason offered without being asked to pay for the shipping back to emo. (awesome jesture). the warranty transfer and repair couldnt have been easier.
