Originally had planned to stick with Paradigm CC-690 v5 center with XPA-1. However, heard the new Klipsch Ref. series II (RF-7II and RC-64II) and changed my mind. These speakers are amazing (price vs performance) and while the Paradigms were slightly better for music, they loose overall when you look at total performance (HT/music/price vs performance).
The XPA-1 drives the center with ease. I have had my system very loud and barely 1 blue LED will light. This system easily competes with my Marshall JVM 410 100w half stack(for those guitar players out there) Amazingly loud and detailed without any sign of strain. A world of difference.
I have the RF-7 II's with my XPA-2 and will eventually use 2 XPA-1's (although the extra headroom is really not necessary). These things are so loud and detailed with the XPA-2, that they will shake the house. The XPA-2 handles the lower impedance dips without issue. For 2ch music, they are amazing. More than you need for home use. Really!
The center channel is by far the most important for HT. I have my center 3-5db louder than the rest of the system and it sounds amazing. In the past, the center always lacked detail. I don't know why, but some blu rays have crappy detail and very low volume with the center channel. Some HD stations on satellite are the same way. I was sick and tired of playing with the volume and turning up the center to hear enough detail and balance the sound to the rest of the system. With the XPA-1 and RC-64II, I do not have any issues anymore. It has made the world of difference.
