I listen to FM radio. There I confessed ;D I was in the local Radio Shack yesterday to pick up some parts and I saw their Auvio HD-Radio tuner on clearance for $40. I figured what the heck... It has coaxial and optical outputs. I have it piped in to the XDA-1 by way of coaxial. Up on the roof is a Magnum Dynalab ST-2 antenna. I'm really surprised at how good some (not all) of the HD-Radio stations sound. www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3899229Now... If i can just figure out a way to get my turntable to play through the XDA-1 I'd be able to eliminate the USP-1.

Well I listen to AM radio and there is no help for me! It is not low budget, but my squeezebox can access internet radio stations and a fair amount of our over the air station also stream via internet. Maybe you could get you favorite AM stations that Way?

yep, squeezebox can access a lot of stations(world wide); but it requires you have a pc on and internet connection. it's one devices i will not let go, for a very long time. but if you want hd stations and stand alone device, look for one that has digital out if you want to get the benefit of xda-1. like this one, www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882720013

I was able to use this Radio Shack $10 off $40 coupon to get it for $30. ;D You might have to find a cheap filler item to reach the $40 minimum requirement. If you're expecting CD quality sound, you might be disappointed. It appears that the HD radio stations in my area that I listen to aren't broadcasting at full bit-rate so while the sound quality is somewhat better than FM, to me, it sounds no better than maybe 96 - 128 kbps MP3. YMMV.

It's a great deal, but I keep hearing that HD Radio is not doing well and may be going the way of the Dodo Bird.

the optical out means the radio shack model does output digital for an xda? - doesn't it?
