Can anyone help me with this one?
I am waiting for an XDA-1 to connect to my Mac iTunes so my source will be completely digital. Previously, I always used iWOW and Volume Logic to enhance iTunes output and volume.
Should I continue to uses these apps or have the DAC function without them? Should I also reactivate the iTunes Equalizer?
Your comments are appreciated.

I play music from an iPod via a Wadia connected to an XDA-1. I leave the music untouched by EQs etc and am very happy with what I hear.

The problem I have with mp3's and m4a's is that their compression is soooo lossy. I cannot stand classical music that's compressed, especially big orchestral works because of the congested mess that is the result. I have compared the two formats and neither is better than the other to me.

That's probably what I'll do as the software "clouds" the sound quality. I'll let the XDA-1 do its job when I get it. I still have not heard anything from Emo re availability. It's interesting what Theresa has said in her post, that she really does not hear any difference between mp3 and Apple Lossless quality when so many folks swear by AL when compared with mp3.

Gentleman's’s... correct me if I am wrong but what is the point of having state of the art equipment and use .mp3, .mp4 or any compress data as a music source...
