I want to run ERM 6.2's across the front but am worried about the 4 ohm load on a typical receiver. I'm pretty sure the refurbished HK's on Ebay would work fine but what about the Marantz 5004 or the Onkyo's that are at www.accessories4less.com. Trying to keep it under $350 Sorry if this question has already been answered.

According to Emotiva, while the speakers are nominally 4ohm, they are "easy to drive".
I ran ERD-1s from a Yamaha RX-V2500 before I got my UPA-1s and put them onto the XPA-5.
The 6.2s may have more/bigger drivers but it should be fine on most units. If you are concerned, a lot of receivers have limiters you can engage (usually labelled 6Ohm or 8Ohm) but I ran the Yamaha set to the normal 8ohm and it was fine.
Edit: This assumes you don't have a large room to fill and need to crank things to the max.

I've ran ERD-1s off a Denon 3300. The manual says it is not recommended to use 4 ohm speakers. The receiver never shut down or even ran hot. I don't think they are a hard load at all.

Thanks for the input. The room is 20x20 (yes it's square but what do you do…) so while I don't go anywhere near max I do need some spl's to make it sound right. I ended up getting a HK AVR 354 from their Ebay store. Even though they don't have all the features of new gear, I couldn't pass up the $335 w/shipping price.

First a word about the AVR 354 from HK's ebay site. It needs a firmware upgrade right out of the box. Requiring a usb to serial port cable wich runs $40 at Radio Shack. Then I find out that HK updates aren't Mac friendly so I have a friend bring his laptop over. Then we learn that HK updates aren't Windows 7 friendly so call ANOTHER friend with a laptop still running XP. THere's an over 90 page thread on it at AVS . Once I get that "simple" task done I let the reciever do it's thing with the included mic. Impressed pretty much sums up the combo. The IPOD bridge runs a bit slow but it's free so I'm not complaining. I kept turning up the SPL's and everything stayed clean with no harshness whatsoever. I'm very happy with the reciever once I got over the buggy firmware update.
