My only choice in Audio Midi settings are 44.1 and 44 at 16b. All my 96/24 files, when converted in Toast, come out at 44.1/16.
What's the point of having a hi-rez A/D and only being able to output 44.1/16 from the source?
I'd love some help on this. Thanks.

are you using USB or Optical for your connection?

I believe that over USB with the Mac that is all it will do. If you go by Optical, you can for sure go up to 24bit/96hz (I see this setting over Optical).

I'll be darned. I seem to find that the headphone output will accept a 3.5mm Toslink optical cable. Who would have thought. Gotta get one and try it out. Any experience out there?

same here. pretty much all recent apple products aside from portables have an optical jack buried inside the headphone jack. got my cable from monoprice and it works great, even at a 12ft run. they don't sell glass optical tho, just a heads up.

Nice price, but the MB needs a mini-Toslink cable. It stinks since I want a glass cable too and lifatec seems to be the most reasonably priced, but it is still $63 for a 2 foot cable. Eric |

Is there anything else to the setup for optical? I have set internal speakers in MA to 96K and set the output in system prefs to internal speakers but see no tell-tail red light out of my digital optical cable. Haven't yet gotten to plugging it into the XDA.
