Didn't read the review, just a comment from a reader that it doesn't have a multichannel input. Shame on Anthem. I expect this from a $299.00 Japanese receiver. I'll look the other way, and continue to hold disdain for these companies refusal to provide a reasonably priced pre-pro. I'll just continue to enjoy the umc-1 and look forward to Emotiva's new offerings. An entry level pre-pro selling at $1500 from a company like Anthem would sell off the shelves. Why can't we buy a "near luxury" pre-pro instead of these compromised receivers that we ending up bypassing their amplifier stages anyway. Thanks Emotiva for resolving this issue for us...

But hey, Anthem is Canadian, so don't be too harsh please! And they are good friends with Paradigm; their sister actually! Don't use that receiver with a pair of Reference Studio 100s!!! Go for an XPA-2 instead! Trust me! Bob, I've auditioned the anthem in two different theaters in the past week. One theater had the Anthem MRX 500 driving a pair of Paradigm Studio 100 towers, a center and surrounds. It handled the load and drove them with authority. I kept looking for the hidden large amp and must have asked the salesman three times to verify it was only the receiver driving those speakers. Needless to say, I was so impressed that I purchased one. :-)

Only by adding an external Emotiva XPA-2 (or a pair of XPA-1 monoblocks) you'd be able to judge the TRUE difference in "Musical Harmony" coming from the 100s! - Anthem receivers are good, but not that good! ...I'm talking sheer power here for true "Singing". Sound Quality and Sound Power are two 'qualitative attributes' that are highly desirable with the Paradigm Reference Studio 100 loudspeakers! And only by adding the extra juice from an Emotiva amp(s), you will know what I'm talking about from your own set of ears!

Thanks Bob, the whole system sounded great except for the tweeter. The only Paradigms I like are the Signatures with the Beryllium tweeter. I purchased the MRX 300 instead of the higher powered models as I will only use the receiver amp section to power the surrounds. I'll be using 3 UPA-1's for the L/C/R channels. I'll also add the XSP-1 when available and use the home theater bypass feature to integrate with my almost fully balanced two channel set-up.(balanced except for UPA-1's. I purchased the Anthem over other receivers based purely on sound quality and the performance of ARC. I don't need all of the other features offered by it's competitors. Not sure which version of studio 100's they were, they looked new and are in the theater room at Toads Audio in Kingsport TN. And only by adding the extra juice from an Emotiva amp(s), you will know what I'm talking about from your own set of ears!

Also worth mentioning, what I heard was in a home theater set-up with the lower frequencies being handled by the subwoofer thus reducing the load on the amp somewhat.

The Paradigm Studio's are actually on version five at the moment, the Monitor line is on it's sixth version. I'm looking to sell my Anthem MRX 700 if anyone's interested, $1400 with the Keyspan adapter included. I'm in Canada, K1h 5W8. Buyer pays shipping.

^ Thanks for the heads up! With so many versions it can get confusing sometimes.
