Which one do you think is a better choice for around $15000 in Audiogon.
Eggleston Savoy or Revel Ultima Salon 2?
Recommended amps?

I've heard the Revel's and really liked them.
For amps I am very fond of BAT VK600s or even the older VK500 or a nice tube amp such as the VK60's. Or if you really want to run monos on them you can always do a simple switch and run duel VK600's which are insane.

Never heard the ES but I read good things about them. I own a pair of the older model Revel Studio's and drive them with the older Sim Audio Moon Series Pre and amp. Still love them. At that price point you can't really go wrong with any speakers in that range.
No speakers, imo can do everything right. You gotta narrow it down to your preference....

For 15k, I can purchase a better MATCHED system with the right tweaks to beat any 15k speaker. That's the price of the yearly pay of SOME part time workers in this SITE! I can purchase an 2 eminent tech lft 8b, a magneapn MG 3.7 or an ohm walsh 5000, a martin logan, or a MAGICO and a 2000 and below planar or electrostat of my choice. In fact I can get a podium and a king prince planar and electrostats for the price of eggleston or a revel salon. They don't even use exotic drivers like the MBL or german physik, but for that price, i'd be looking at a DUEVEL

I think you might find that the $15 you spend might sound better to your ears Gerbal, but would fail for Leog. I have well over $30k in my system and would not put an electrostat in it. As for Amp's, I do recommend Simaudio, only issue is if they need repair. Sim sucks at that. I have had my Aurora at Sim for 4 months now, no response and no repaired amp.

The Revels are very nice and almost too laid-back, but to each his own. I'm not familiar with the other system you listed. In any case, I highly recommend you do NOT spend $15K on any speaker regardless of reputation - especially not on a used set - until you have listened to them and physically examined them.

I heard the Eggleston Savoy at AXPONA NY. I was not impressed with these. I have not heard the Revel Ultima Salon 2 but I'm not a fan of metal coned drivers. I think $15 K can get you something much better than these two choices.

Check out the active versions of some of the ATC SCM speakers. They sound fantastic, and you don't need to spend 15k (unless you want to).

For $15k I would build an active three way setup using the best drivers available, with a pair of 10" woofers in each speaker. I would use a miniDSP for 3-way active filtering and output I2S into a pair of Buffalo III's. Finally, I would use a pair of XPA-3 amplifiers, one for each channel, for amplification. It would be a glorious thing to behold... Muhahaha. It would probably cost less than $15 grand too. But to each their own.
