not 1.7s but driving my PGunned 1.6s with an XPA-2,,
using the pre from my Marantz SR9600,,
certainly adequate horses under the hood of the amp to make em sing,,
silent at idle but will certainly grab your attention when turned up,, my normal listening levels are in the 78 to 83 DB but they will go over a 100 if you want with no red lights turning on the XPA-2,,
amp has never breathed hard supply excellent sound and even the bass picked up a tad,,

I have gunned 1.6qr's and have used the xpa-3,2, and now 1's. Any of them sound great and drive them with seemingly no effort. The difference between the XPA-2 & 3 is minimal but the jump to the XPA-1's really took them up a notch in every way, better bass, better detail, and all around cleaner sound IMHO.
I am running the UMC-1 and USP-1.

I have an XPA-2 driving a pair of Magnepan 1.6's in my bedroom...the sound is exceptionally fine. The maggies love the power the XPA-2 is capable of.
I also have a pair of Magnepan 1.7's in my living room. They are normally hooked to a vintage Threshold S500 power amp...which has pretty much the same power ratings as the XPA-2.
I've had the XPA-2 hooked to the 1.7's...heck, just last week again in fact. It sounds every bit as good on the 1.7's as on the 1.6's. Great match

Oh..and I have a pair of XPA-1's in my main system driving a pair of Thiel 3.6's. I have taken my 1.7's down there and hooked them up to the XPA-1's just to satisfy my curiosity.
The maggies do sound better with the XPA-1's, but I'm totally happy with how they sound with the XPA-2 as well.
