hmm, for onkyo, 709-809 is what you get
1020k from pioneer, though i'd go more the top tier gear..

For that kind of money you can get an Onkyo TX-NR1008. Or last year model, the TX-NR1007 and have money left over.  Or this year very new model, the TX-NR809. |

All nice AVR's...anyone of them listed here would make out for a good pre-amp use..but +1 for LordOfTheRingsEE..gota Luv there processor in the Onkyo..

Well thank you all for your help and advice I ended up buying last years model Yamaha RXV 1065 on Thursday for $525 tax in, so I have some extra money to finish off my acoustic panel project too  I watched Kingdom of Heaven and I was smiling from ear to ear ;D This receiver really does have everything I was looking for and I can't believe how easy it was to setup. I'm also surprised with the 2 channel audio, I know its not perfect but it definitely sounds alot better then my old Yammy 596. Anyways Thanks again, I'm of to watch the Aliens series on Bluray.
