I am using the Kef XQ 30's as my fronts and a KEF XQ 50 as the center with the Onkyo NR-3008 receiver.
I mostly listen to 3.1 Audio for music 50% of the time and HT for the other 50%.
Would I benefit by getting the Emotiva XDA-1. Are the Dac's on the xda1 better than the BurrBrown Dac on the Onkyo?
Also, would I benefit any by adding a XPA-3 to my current set Up??
Most of my music is played through USB, will I notice any difference in SQ with either or both of the upgrades??
I recently received my Onkyo NR-3008 and wow is it Awesome!!! It just blew me away! (Thank You LordOfTheRingsEE, for helping me decide on the NR 3008. Thanks also to all the other member on the forum for their inputs/post on the 3008).

Music in 3.1 huh? You're destroying your soundstage and imaging that way but whatever floats your boat I believe you'd notice an improvement by grabbing the XDA-1, but don't expect a night and day difference. Plus, it's an awesome little piece to have if you're building another system. Just add an amp and a source and you're golden (and speakers of course). Will the DAC's beat out the ones in your Onkyo? Yea, but again I don't believe it's gonna shock you. You would definitely benefit from adding more power to your system with the XPA-3. Like Emotiva says, more power more control. Adding the XPA-2 increased the dynamics of my system dramatically and brought my speakers to life. You will experience the same with more power. Good luck!

I'm still a novice when it comes to these things. I hate not to use my new xq50, so the 3.1, but I did notice it sounded better with my 2.1 setup before I got the xq50. I just thought since my room was not very large, it sounded this way. I went back and played it in stereo and you were right. It sound sooo much better!!! Now only if I can decide if I want to get the xda-1 as well as the xpa-3 before jul 4th
