Hello all, New here. Quick question.
I'm contemplating purchasing an XDA-1. My existing digital is OK but old ( circa 2000. Toshiba SD9100 DVD player and a Marantz DR17 CD recorder ). I'm really a tube and vinyl guy, but I would at least like to be able to listen for a while w/o wanting to head for the hills, STS. I listen a few times a month to my buddies system, which is Mac notebook - Amarra - Weiss Dac202 - Woo Audio WES ( all available upgrades ) - Stax Omega SR007 MKII headphones, so I'm used to some pretty high end sound. I've also been around long enough to know that while the XDA-1 will fall short, I also expect it to come close enough to please me.
Now for the question:
Does the display on the XDA-1 show the status of the bit rate/sampling frequency of the digital datastream being fed to it ? I.E. Does it show CD at 16/44.1, DVD @ 24/96, and high rez downloads at whatever they come in at up tp 24/192 ?
I thank you in advance for your help and advice.
Cheers, Bill

Thanks for the quick response Dave. I was afraid that was going to be the answer.
Another question.
I've been out of the loop on digital for a long time. I need to locate a transport that will output 24/96 to the XDA-1. My Toshiba will only do 24/48, and I think its too old to have it modded to output 24/96. So are you guys aware of any DVD players or transports that will output the full 24/96 datastream ? I really don't want to invest more than $ 500.00 or so on it.
Thanks in advance for your help and advice.
Cheers, Bill

Hey Bill, Welcome to the forum!
Have you looked at Logitech's Squeezebox? Also for $500 you can get the Oppo 93 which I believe does 24/96. I'm sure if I have this wrong, several others here will quickly correct me.
Good luck in your quest.

I think most any blu-ray player on the market these days can handle 24/96 with no problem. What is the source of your hi-res music? Are you looking at using computer downloaded HD tracks? It all depends on your source in choosing a transport or other forms of playing your music.
