Hello everyone ! I live in Paris (France) and heard about Emotiva products on the www.homecinema-fr.com/forum/ forum, while looking for a pre processor able to help an aging Sherwood Newcastle R863 receiver. I'm interested in the UMC-1 and the XMC-1, but now also in the XPA-5. Arnaud

Hello Arnaud and welcome to our Lounge. I own the XPA-5 and love it. I'm waiting for the XMC-1 to compliment my Emo speakers and CD player. Please feel right at home here and ask any questions you might have or add your own advice and experiences. I was in your wonderful city about 10 years ago. Only was able to spend about 6 days but loved it including an overnight trip to the Chambord Castle, magnificent! When in Paris I noticed that big tower, I think they called it the Eyeful Tower ( ;D), was leaning quite a bit. I certainly hope it has not fallen over by now! Chuckie ;D

Bonjour Arnaud. D'abbord, bienvenue! I thought Bob would be all over this thread en français. Well since the Statue of Liberty is described as: "Enlightening the World was a gift of friendship from the people of France to the people of the United States and is a universal symbol of freedom and democracy." Maybe, Emotiva can send a gift of friendship to Arnaud! Talk to Emo if the European sales office is up and running and you may save on shipping for those outstanding products that you have mentioned. Je suis certain que tu seras heureux avec les produits Emo malgrè certains defis qui sourvienent des temps en temps.

Wow, thank you very much for your welcome ! I listened to the podcast and was very pleased to hear about an European branch, for the shipping cost as well as for support in case of malfunction. This wouldn't have stopped me from buying however. As I just created my little consulting company (specialized in portal software, like Liferay), a XMC-1 / XPA-5 bundle should be a very nice reward for the first contracts I just signed Thank you all for your kindness, Arnaud

Maybe, Emotiva can send a gift of friendship to Arnaud! Friendliness is enough of a gift, as I live in a city that has a (well deserved, even if changing) reputation of rudeness ! Thanks, Arnaud

Took my family to Paris a few years ago. My wife loves France as she speaks (fairly well) the language, having spent time there as a student.
Have to say that we were treated very well when we were there for the most part.
We did have one incident at a restaurant that I thought was pretty funny - my wife did not.
She was attempting to order in French when a haughty waiter suggested that it would be better from him to speak English than for my wife to speak French.
Otherwise, everything was wonderful and we really enjoyed our time in Paris. It was a great trip.
