Metaldude, i go back to Budgie as well. I still think Burke Shelley's solo on Black Velvet Stallion is one of the best out there. Being a southern boy we had some bands in the south that had a good metal edge to them for there day. In the 70's the band that played my high school named White Witch rocks. In the 80's a band named AXE was as Metal as a southern band ive heard. G'day Axis , I agree , still some of the best stuff around ... As much as I love some of the newer metal these days, my passion for old school metal remains

Wow, just scanned through 9 pages of metal. I couldn't find Tool mentioned once. I must have skipped a section somewhere. There's some speakers missing out, and ears.

There British blues rock sound has some southern rock sound in there to me. I started reading the Rollings Stones Record Guide from front to back starting about 1978 and I have so many forgotten bands and albums. That make's it fun to this day to find em. Keep um coming. Thanks mate. Here's a one off rock group and album that everyone should know about. If you don't know about them look into the history of this album. I have the vinyl and playing right now.

Im finding alot of good stuff here on this thread. Ive never considered myself a metal head but bands like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple. Aerosmith, ect.. were stables for a hippie growing up in the 70's.
Being this is Metal Territory im going im going stick to sharing of what was good hard rock growing in middle georgia. Take this first one Doc Holliday, they did alot of shows with Black Sabbath. I'm proud to say I knew these guys and help roadie with them in north carolina. Stillwater was another local band.

What I like is bands back then just played , they have that raw sound ,no electronic wizardry or very little , just them and the instruments , cool.. Toe Fat ,found them again after a clean out of spare room , then looked for them o y/tube and there they were...I'm going through other boxes as I get time ,I wonder what I'll find

Probably a little too 'extreme' for this crowd, but the new Vreid is out and it kicks!
