5. Do not spam. Also, we do not tolerate blatant advertising. Telling your buddies about a great product is one thing, but this is not a store front for another brand.[/u] Just to further my rant on who are trolls: Here is rule #5 from the Forum Etiquette. It speaks for itself. Yet, how many times we see some poster recommending the competitor's product over Emo's. Emo does not sell tube amps. So, if a poster recommends a Jolida tube amp, no sweat. But to recommend that someone purchase a Parasound amp as a better amp than say the XPA-5, to me that is trolling. I'm out! [/quote] I agree, it is very bad manners to come on here to advertise another manufacturers product or to bad mouth Emotiva without even owning, and quite often never hearing or seeing, an Emotiva product. Emotiva's are a great buy and perform far beyond the level one would expect given their price. That isn't to say that there isn't better performing equipment out there but it cannot compete with Emo on both price and performance. Like the $12,000 processor discussed, I have little doubt that it is a supreme performer but for those of us with limited incomes Emo is more than just a good buy.

Glad to log onto the board and see the specifics about the upcoming software update for the UMC and the specs for the XMC. Thank you Dan!

I think that Lonnie spelled it out in exactitude in the link I provided in reply #122. The very reason I requested that Dan's post from last evening are placed in the News & Update thread for easy reference. Thank you Sir Hemster.

Hey Bob... guess again. If you assume... well you know what that means! ;D Alright, I guessed wrong! No HDMI v.1.4, and no ARC (Audio Return Channel), and no CEC (but this last one, I couldn't care less for). And like Dan explained, it ain't a big deal at all for many. ____________ * For me though, ARC is nice to have with HDMI version 1.4 Also, we are entering a new era very soon now, 4K! {This is happening sooner than what some people might have thought!} BUT, I think the XMC-1 is THEE ONE! Furthermore, with the newer UMC-1 3D, you have a Video Bypass mode. Am I missing somethin' else?

This is all Great News from Dan! And even more UNBELIEVABLE is the discount (clearance) price of the UMC-1! At only $499 it is a amazing DEAL! And not only that! But you also get a 40% OFF discount coupon towards the XMC-1! ...If you want to upgrade in the future. Man, only here at the Emotiva Lounge!

Maybe it was already posted and I missed it so if so I am sorry. Do we know if they are working on updating the firmware/SW upgrade process?

For me the 3D feature is pointless. If you have a BD player with 2 HDMI outs, you simply go to your display directly and bypass the UMC-1 altogether.
Not that I even have a 3D TV or the desire for one...

what ticks me off is if my wife and i want to go to a movie 90% of them are 3d now and no option to see 2d. Well, rejoice now! ...From Home Theater mag, September 2011 issue (page 22). * There are now 3D-to-2D Glasses; invented by Hank Green, the Los Angeles-based inventor of these clever 3D-to-2D conversion glasses. Hank loves 3D movies, but when he discovered that his wife gets headaches from viewing them, he had three options. After dismissing divorce, he realized he could go to these movies alone or head for the workshop, where he busted up a couple of RealID-compatible glasses he'd appropriated from his local theater and stitched together a single pair that allows the viewing of only one eye's worth of 3D.
It's really pretty simple. The RealID passive 3D system, as well as the passive 3D systems being used in LCD HDTVs from LG, Vizio, and Toshiba, use a circular polarization scheme that separates the right-eye image from the left by polarizing each eye's image in opposite directiions. By using the same lens type for both eyes, Hank's prototype effectively blocked one-half of the 3D image, leaving his wife to see the movie in 2D (albeit with less brightness than if she was viewing a regular 2D film without glasses).
When world of the magical 2D marriage-savers spread among Hank's friends and the requests starting pouring in, he recognized the demand and set up shop at 2D-Glasses, LLC. 2D glasses cost $8 apiece and can be purchased at Amazon or at 2D-glasses.com.________________________________ * Quick question: In that same issue of Home Theater (September 2011 - Volume 18 No. 9), what product is advertised on page 15?

Not really a solution, I don't want to wear glasses at all.

I know that they have 'silent' movies from the 20's and before; but I wonder if they have 'blind' movies? ;D

Anyhow, free-wearing-3D-glasses will eventually appear. Meaning, No Glasses at all for 3D movies! ...Just be a little patient that's all. Meanwhile, just download 2D movies from Netflix. Even if your HDTV is a 3D model, and that your pre/pro or receiver, and Blu-ray player is 3D Ready. ________________________ 3D Surround Sound is also coming, without the 3D headphones.
