My wife often ask me why I need a V6 2+2 car with over 330 BHP and 0-60 of 5 secs to drive on Florida roads which measure much flatter than an Oppo BRP 95. I can outrun the cops and most everybody else if I really feel like it! Same mentality with power & bass. Man you guys are making me feel old with this V-6 talk.In my day we kept quiet about having a six because V-8s were the thing to have.My how times have changed. Nissan also makes a wonderful 3.8 V6 with 540 bhp. I wouldn't mind having one of those. Maybe if I win the lottery tomorrow night (or is it Wednesday).

Whats the difference between the UMC-1 and the UMC-2 besides the new face plate?? Does the UMC-2 have two HDMI outputs or no?? The UMC-2 concept that we showed is a fully working 1.4 platform. It is a new design from the ground up. Everything in it is a whole new design. The decoder is using CS new 497024 and the HDMI uses the AD7623. To show you how much things have changed over the last couple of years. The UMC-1 had about a dozed PCBs where this has all of 4. Very tightly integrated and really a slick design. Now whether or not this will be released has not yet been determined. We are using it to work out all of the HDMI 1.4 issues, but the technology in this unit will definately be coming to a theatre near you very soon. ;D I would pay hard cash for a 11.2 processor in XPR-5 style. Over on AVS, the Onkyo PR-SC5507/8/9 (only 9.1) and the Denon 4311/12 (an 11.1 AVR that can play in processor mode) are getting very active threads. I see room for such a beast! You can use DTS Neo:X if you don't fancy Audyssey DSX. What is your opinion? Attachments:

I don't think us relative noobies would not be kept off any pre-order list.

I feel very certain that there will be a new waiting list. Lots of people on the first list either has another pre/pro by now, or has passed away. I hope not. There have been literally hundreds of people that have become Emo customers that are also interested in the XMC-1. Should Emo honor a list that has been depleted more than 50%. I think not. I don't see the big problem in you keeping abreast of developments on the XMC-1 and submitting your name once again. The XMC-1 you wanted back then is no more. Just grab a ticket and stand join thje line behind me. Passed away?

I I ended up finally getting an Area51 ERC on the cheap and picked up an X-Ref 12 this morning. Can't wait to hear it with some music! It's been a long time since I had a good musical sub to work with. The only thing I was quite sad to see, was the mass exodus after the grand prize was announced. Johnny Hiland was simply amazing and I felt just horrible that only a small handful of us stuck around to hear his full 2nd set. All of the entertainment this year was top notch. Even if you aren't big fans of the styles played today, I took this as an opportunity to really listen to that "live" sound we strive for in our own systems and apply it to my own when I get home. Derek Spot on.. I had similar observations. Picked up dual X-ref 12 subs and can't wait to integrate them into my system. Also, it was sad to see the people depart so quickly after the grand prize winner was announced. Johnny Hiland was simply an amazing player. Although this was my first Fest, I thought it was wildly successful. Dan and Kathy are the consummate hosts

Although I did not make it on the original XMC-1 preorder list, I agree with your comments completely. Dave. I'm not on any XMC list but I have no concerns that I'll be able to get one when they come out. What's the big concern? They aren't going to run out of stock on these puppies!!! ;D IMO,I wouldn't want one from the first batch anyway. It's like buying a new model car the first year it is manufactured. Let them work out the bugs first. ;D

Of course those intending to use discount vouchers may get pushed back in line anyway as in the past they only do a certain % of each batch with the discount. I'm on the list anyway, but will reserve the buying decision until we get final (really final) specs.

It has nothing to do with Emo, it's just that no matter how much testing and tweeking is done before release, once a new piece of equipment gets in the hands of day to day users, new unforeseen issues always seem to arise.

They aren't going to run out of stock on these puppies!!! ;D Don't be surprised if the first boatload sells out very fast. Some of us have been camped out waiting for these for a long time. Plus some of us are working on the pre-pro section of an eight year old receiver. Besides, I heard that the first 100 buyers get a free turkey next Thanksgiving. Well let's hope that the XMC-1 has been thoroughly tested and that you don't wind up with two turkeys.

After visiting Emotiva, Ive realized that although the new units will be mighty mighty, will be released in due course and after some user feedback over the next year or so, will become a substantial product. However, I needed something now and as such I decided to consolidate all the wiring and splitters went with the new Onkyo 809. That is not to say I could not switch when the Emo is ready, but for now, it is buy what is available and working and see what the future may bring.

As in most every area of life, we all have many many choices we can make before the release of the XMC. Keep what we have, buy a UMC, buy another brand, sit around and gripe about the delay and feature set, etc. Me, I'm quite happy with my Onkyo 807 and will continue to enjoy it either until the release of the XMC or even after if needed. ;D

Because they are both problematic in their operation! Check over at AVS Forum on all the defective Oinkyo products from those two series! It's not small, it's BIG! Oinkyo's reign is just about over! _________________________ Oinkyo had its fair share of problems over the years; so is Denon, Yamaha, Marantz, Pioneer, Lexicon, Ayre, Rotel, NAD, Arcam, Sherwood Newcastle, and a bunch more... Right now there is only one safe place to be!
