Hello, I thought I stop by here and and say hi to everyone. Hello everyone!!!
I am currently shopping around to upgrade my home theater. I currently own the Outlaw 950 processor and the Outlaw 755 amp. My front speakers is a pair of Onyx Reference 3, my center is Onyx Reference 100, my rears are RTi55 Polks. There's nothing wrong with my equipment I just want to upgrade to the new sound format Blu-ray has to offer. I ordered a Marantz SR5005 to replace my Outlaw 950 and I was going to use the Marantz internal amp to power the back surround or front height but I stumbled onto this Emotiva Website and was stunned with the prices of the equipment, specially the amplifiers!!! Wow!!!
I love to listen to music in stereo a lot and when the wife is working I watched my action movies with the theater setup and hopefully with the TrueHD when my Marantz arrives.
So, in addition to my current setup, which Emotiva amp is more suitable, XPA-2 or UPA-1? I will also need a a pair of surround speakers to make my setup 7.1...
Any suggestions you guys can provide is greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much,
rick

Hi Rick and Welcome to the Lounge! Both amps are fantastic amps; the XPA-2 is more powerful in real WATTS, and the UPA-1 is magic in Imaging and Separation. And Emotiva has some fantastic speakers on sale right now to use as great surrounds. Go ahead, and order the amp that suits more your listening habit, and get those Emo surround speakers. You got nothing to lose (30 days money back warranty), and everything to gain! Bob

Welcome rambilt. I'm in Houston, well actually Cypress but most people don't know where that is!! ;D
You won't tell much difference if any between the UPA-1 and the XPA-2 unless you really crank it up loud!!!!

There was a gathering at San Antonio recently for the TX forum members. I think they would like to do it again sometime in the future

Welcome Friend. If only Calif. could be more like Taxes, we would have jobs again!
That Marantz will make a great processor, lined out to an Emo amp; you will have a great sounding system for super cheap!

Fellow Austinite here. Too bad we're in a pandemic or else I'd suggest a meetup!

Hi rambilt - First, welcome to the Lounge! Happy to have you & don't be a stranger. Second, you might consider some Emotiva PA-1 amps - FANTASTIC sound (especially for the $$$). As has been said repeatedly - the only speakers that matter for stereo are the front left & right. For movies, the only speakers that matter are the center and the sub (everything else is just effects). Happy shopping! Boomzilla (moniker not indicative of listening preferences)
