I've finally done it. The sale was too good to pass up. I bought the UMC-1 + black trim. I also bought two used UPA-1's. I purchased black trim for those also. I'm not too thrilled I spent $20 on black trim plates. I feel they should give you the option of trim color if you purchase new. But I prefer the look, so I had to get it.
I hope the UMC is relatively trouble free. I'd also like to hear some audible improvement in my HPM-100 speakers with both the processor and mono amps vs. my current Yamaha RX-V2092 which is a pretty hefty, solid receiver (45 lbs).
My next upgrade will be some speakers to replace my HPM-100 mains. All of the other components are newer and these are 70's vintage. I have enjoyed them for years and for the $20 I paid for the both of them they sure have given a lot of enjoyment. I just want to try something different, more modern.
My room including adjoining kitchen and hallway is under 3100 cubic feet. I have been looking mostly at used bookshelf speakers due to shipping cost being much lower. I like former high $$ speakers that are being sold for a fraction of their cost new. I have AV123 ELT525M's in my computer room and LOVE their laidback, smooth, non-fatiguing sound. I'd probably like a slightly more forward sound in my HT though. Any suggestions?

Check out the Emotiva speakers on sale, esp. the 8.3s and 6.3s. They should be pretty neutral and some might call this laid back. Speakers have developed a lot since the '70s with lower distortion, flatter and more extended frequency response. The Emo's would be a significant step up for you. And, no I don't have Emo Speakers, I just see them as a tremendous bargain especially with speakers going up in price.

Yeah, hopefully I will have enough $ in the next couple weeks to get some new speakers. And if these are still available I will definitely consider them.

Sweet, all three are on their way to me now! Will definitely post pics when they're set up. I'm sure they're going to look awesome on the tv stand. Will recoup some $ selling the receiver I hope.

Does Emotiva send an email w/ tracking info when your item ships? In my case, they always do. I usually got tracking information from Sarah. Anyway, congratulations !!!! I am using the combination of UMC-1 and UPA-1s, too. I can say it is great !!!

I agree about the black trim, it looks better to me. Too rich for my blood though.

looks good, on your umc you have the dimmer off? howd you get blue button and no screen ? Well, there's 10 levels for the dimmer. The one I prefer turns off all but the power button light. I was hoping when I changed inputs or messed with levels the display would turn on momentarily for guidance but it stays off. Kind of annoying to have to up the dimmer once, then go through the 10 levels again to dim completely once you're done adjusting. Not a big deal really and the OSD will have most if not all pertinent info anyway.
