Hello, I've been hanging around awhile and thought I'd introduce myself and tell how I got here! I got my first GOOD stereo in about 1974. Dynaco Stereo 120, PAT 4 Pre, and tuner. Speaker Lab 3s, Dual 606 turntable (Yes, still have it), Aiwa cassette. Then Life happened, graduated, wife, kids... Since then, mediocre sound/video systems. Now, kids are grown, no longer married. I was looking to upgrade. Found a deal on Klipsch 52 IIs with Onkyo AV and a BD player. No Sub though and my crappy sub I had didn't cut it. Then I found reviews of Emo Ultra 12, read these boards and ordered one. Wow, what a difference. Now my new Klipsch speakers weren't cutting it. Then what with July 4th sales and Close outs, I kept making more Emo orders and just ordered an Xref 12. I now need to work on making my equipment stands and room treatments (big open room with lots of hard surfaces (20x28 with half the room open another 10). I shifted my other stuff to a small room with my new Qumi projector and a sub I got free for replacing the plate amp. A much better fit there. I also like value for my money, so Emotiva fits the bill. Whew! Other than that, I'm a software guy that works with a bunch of hardware nerds looking at squiggle ethernet signals. I also garden, play tennis, roast coffee, video game, build PCs, (I get procs cheap) and have a big dog that likes to hog the sofa. That's probably enough, so I won't go into my life on the high seas or my fav cars Jeff

Welcome to the lounge, Jeff! I used to have a Dynaco 120 as well! Had it paired with a PAT-5 (bought them both in kit form) and wish I still had them but now they are ancient history. I think you will love the Emo gear you acquire. It's an excellent organization that makes excellent products. Make sure you post your impressions!

Welcome to the lounge Jeff. Don't we all wish we had some of that equipment from the 70s. Actually I wish I still had some of the older cars I have owned over the years..... ;D Oregon, huh??? Did you know that you reside in the only state in the union where there are no self service gas stations. It's illegal to pump your own gas in Oregon!!!!

Jeff, welcome. What kind of dog is that in your avatar? Is it a Neo?

Hello, I've been hanging around awhile and thought I'd introduce myself and tell how I got here! I got my first GOOD stereo in about 1974. Dynaco Stereo 120, PAT 4 Pre, and tuner. Jeff I got started when as a pre-teen I helped my father put together a Dynaco Stereo 70 and preamp and tuner. I think part of the motivation was to get me to do things, soldering, stripping wire etc. that would help me overcome my tremor.

Thanks all for the warm welcome!! Yes, the dog is my Neapolitan Mastiff (same type as Hagrid's in Harry Potter films). A few more pics at: pets.webshots.com/album/580762654ZGcmMzI have on one or two occasions while traveling in another state, found myself sitting (in my car) at a gas station waiting for someone who wasn't coming. And I do wish I still had my Dynaco equipment which after putting the kits together, made them a bit more special. I'll probably start thinking about speaker building as soon as I catch up on some of my other projects. Jeff

She's beautiful. I love mastinos. I have a relative of the Neo, a Cane Corso. I also have a 'Bella', but she's a Yorkie.

We should all be waiting anxiously for the new line of emotiva gear to come out. I'm planning on purchasing some of the new gear with my existing one. It's nice to have different systems. I have four different systems and manufacturers I like, emotiva being one of them.

Don't be anxious about a new line. It is impossible to say what features or performance to expect from new gear.

Yes, I miss my Dynaco gear as well even though it has IMHO been replaced by better sounding and more reliable gear.
