New to the board. I've been passionate about hifi since I was about 10. Dad gave me my first receiver (Sony STR-de525... Don't make em like that any more) when I was about 12.

I'm now 25 in the Navy serving as an Aviation Maintenance Administrationman.

As of now I'm using a run of the mill Sony STR-de445 receiver with my modified KEF Q10's with Swans bullet tweeters connected via toslink to my Vaio.

I'll be deploying to Bahrain soon and when I get back, I plan to score Emo gear of the full range (Pre amp, amps, and speakers) .

Will they be replacing equivalent reference speakers that are now on clearance or am I SOL?

I also own a pair of Paradigm Monitor 7's and have owned KEF Coda 8's, Coda 7's, and K 140's. I'd still kill in cold blood for a pair of K160's though!

Im also a HUGE car audio snob as well. I used to be a pro installer. If any of you have car audio questions dont be afraid to ask! The following pics are of my hi-fi setup I have done to my '05 HEMI Jeep Grand Cherokee using a 3-way Eclipse audio setup in each door with a total of 1000w of true power. What makes the Alpine headunit special is that it rocks a 24bit Burr Brown processor . Enjoy the pics (sorry in advance for the large amount!)

It sort of defeats the whole point of the Uni-Q driver configuration, though. doesn't it?

Welcome! If the drivers were high quality $80 is reasonable.

The subwoofer is an Alpine 12" Type R in a 1.0 cubic foot box.

Of course! Dad fried them one night. KEF wanted $80 for new ones. Parts Express was asking for $20 SWANS bullet tweeters... I chose the Swans Audio . Theyre much better.

I've never been impressed by the performance of coincident drivers. KEF before they went with coincident made great speakers.

I have the same alpine head unit in my Regal T. It's a great sounding deck.
