All good. I have yet to give the Emo-Q another try, but I noticed when I manually put all the EQ settings flat, it sounded better than what Emo-Q auto calibration did. Also, my room acoustics are poor; small room and all hard surfaces.

Room acoustics play a very big part of the final sound you hear, you will often get a lot of early reflections from stuff in the top end. Some soft furnishings and a rug for the floor can make a improvement.
EQ's help with getting the sound right but I prefer if it's possible to try and address the real issues and then use EQ's to just help tweak/custom the sound to my own tastes.
While alot of people strive to set things technically correct in regards to the respose and final sound in reality I think people should try to get things to sound how they enjoy it most. Think of it like food, just because a food is good for you doesn't mean you will enjoy eating it. So just try to address what you don't like about the sound rather than how you think it should be.
Try to address room acoustics and speaker placement as best as you can, then work on tweaking the EQ to try and help with short comings and personal sound tastes/preferences. I think you will find a great deal of people like EQ's for movies but for critical listening like music (2 channel) often listen without the implementation of EQ.

OK, I screwed up quoting you but I wanted to reply to your comment about the sub being too low. I found that with EmoQ on both MC-700 and MC-1 (had to buy a replacement since the former died). I remember needing to manually tweak my MC-700 in order to dial in cohesion and sub integration and I just got the MC-1 setup yesterday and it lacked cohesion (ie. Sound field felt too separated in terms of channels) and the sub was definitely to weak.
