been watching the UMC-1, bugs and all, since i pre-ordered my Oppo BDP83, but completely forgot about it for over a year, until i saw mention of it recently and saw the clearance sale.
no brainer- picked up the umc-1 and xpa-5 and on its way for tomorrow delivery.. can't wait..
am slowly but surely picking up some decent within budget gear to make my HT and "critical" listening space shine...
can't wait!!

Jon,
Welcome to the lounge. You have exactly the same gear as I and I love mine. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Do share your reviews with us here.

Thanks for the welcome, I really believe that Emotiva's "mission" statement at emotiva.com/about.shtm really hits home with me as a consumer. Most of my HT hardware comes from companies like this. Hopefully, my SWMBO will sign for the hardware today so I can check it out tonite. I have been using a Jamo 5.1 receiver with all HT audio via spdif and SACD stereo via analog with the Oppo units. My Jamo speakers and sub for the past 7 years have performed admirably, but after experimenting with whole home audio via squeezebox duets, I decided it was time to get the HT improved again. I recently picked up some additional Klipsch Icon VF-36 towers (not the best, but reviews were decent for my price point) to potentially replace/augment the Klipsch Synergy F1 (again not the best, but reviews were decent for my price point in 2009) ) series i have as fronts (and center Klipsch C1 which replaced a Jamo center). Coincidentally I think Klipsch bought out Jamo a couple years back. I am excited to see what separates brings to the table for my set-up.. My room is not acoustically well-treated, but I hope to have that at least attacked in the next couple months. My plan in the winter is also to diy some frugel-horns.. for fun.. I have plenty of areas in my home that need sound... My review may be of the very low-end pro-sumer, but i'll give it a good effort.

been enjoying the UMC-1 and noticed the center dropout on TIVO triple fast forward twice since September, a run through of audio mode fixed it each time though.
I was lurking a lot and saw that the update came out.. i chose to use the alternate update method listed and it went relatively quickly. Everything sounds great!
thanks for the board support.
