We have two UMC-1s six months old and love them. We have had zero Problems and think our upgrade to Emotiva was a wonderful choice. I have never seen more complaints on a product in my life.
We must have the only two in the world that function perfectly. Great product and exceptional buy.

You're not the only one that is highly content with their UMC-1. I think there is quite a few of us, and we don't say much about our UMC-1 because we're too busy enjoying.

I had mine sent back to Emotiva twice. I purchased used at a reasonable discount.
With some of the issues I've encountered, such as firmware upgrading difficulties, HDMI sync, center channel dropout, slow input changes, etc., I still like it.
However, I don't love it, but wouldn't expect to for its price. At less than half the cost of its closest alternative for me (the Marantz AV7005), an issue free processor is still not worth $800 more to me.
When the bugs aren't bothering me, the sound is absolutely phenomenal. My HT and music never sounded so clear, so unstrained, so lifelike, even when I had Marantz separates or a Marantz / Emotiva hybrid setup.

Yep, I love mine. The only complaint I have is with my FIOS DVR, which doesn't work with HDMI, but component and optical fixed that, and I've been enjoying the UMC very much ever since.

Mine performs flawlessly.
The only annoyance for me is still no XMC-1.

The vast majority of owners of the UMC-1 are very pleased with it. I have had mine going on two years now and the few problems that I initially had were easily worked around. With Emotiva issuing FW upgrades, the operation has just got better and better. For the last year, I have not had any problems with my unit. It has worked flawlessly. I love it and would not trade it straight across for any competitor's offering at several times its cost. The UMC-1 does everything I want and does it very well.

It seems like resolution is on the way for you. Check with doc1963. I read in a thread that I can't recall, that Verizon has done a FW update to their box and now the UMC-1 and the Verizon STB are are having instant locks and no audio drops

Jamrock, I really wish that was the case, but it's not. Actually, when it was Verizon I had zero problems and quick lock on. Then Frontier Communications moved into my area, and Verizon dropped/handed me over to Frontier, along with most of Portland metro area. Everything was still fine for about a week, then one night they decided to perform an update at midnight(which I witnessed)and the HDMI handshake has been ruined ever since then. So hopefully Verizon will share that update with Frontier.
Anyway, back on topic.

Certainly do!! It provides me with great sound and picture quality on a consistent basis -- regardless of input -- DirecTV DVR, Toshiba HD-DVD, or Oppo 95.
Mine has been virtually bug-free since I got it more than 1 1/2 years ago. The firmware updates can be a pain, but other than that, not much to complain about.

I like my UMC-1. It works fine although I don't have any odd components connected to it. Once in a while I will get a sound dropout but not very often. I'm a happy owner.

Love the sound, leaves my Lexicon & Pioneer processors for dead. Sound is so life like, fantastic brass and sparkling treble and the bass response is of earth quake power, regretfully shows up poorly recorded CD's. Sounds that the recording engineer considered we would not hear like air conditioning running, studio floor resonance sounds, external studio sounds. My only concern with the UMC-1 is slowness in HDMI switching of sound up to 3 seconds and not keeping to the selected mode even after repeated resets.

Hey, for what I paid - 40% off 699 = 420, anD the fact that I sCooped up a 40% off card for the XMC-1 when if (finally) arrives - I'm dancing in the streets!!
Name me ONE SINGLE RECEIVER OR PRE-PRO that comes anywhere close to the UMC-1's capabilities and cusroemr support and I'll kiss yer *bleep* in Macy's front window and give an hour to draw a crowd. Up for it, laddie?

Definitely liking mine. Torn between buying a second one now for the basement, or wait for the XMC-1 and move the UMC to the second HT.
