Thought this was another UMC-1 bashing thread perhaps it should be titled "Who else loves the UMC-1?"

I have an unopened UMC-1 that I am trying to decide on whether to sale or keep mostly based around room correction technology. I am spoiled by the EZset EQ room correction program that is on my Harman Kardons. What I would like to know is......are there some of you that have come from a processor that had room correction technology but like the UMC-1 better, with or without Emo-Q? Or, did you come from a processor with no room correction and so you don't really have anything to compare the UMC-1 with in that area? Your opinions are important! I don't want to open the box and try it as I feel that it might sell for more unopened. Hence, the questions here.

I feel it does more damage then good. I will agree that it can help mask a poor room. But in the end the 3808 is now in my 2 channel and the umc is in the theater. You will need to have a spl meter to help set the levels though. sent from my phone. sorry for the short response

For those on the fence - just a couple of comments. If you really want an XMC-1 it's a no-brainer, the UMC-1 w/ card pays for itself. If $500 is the top of your budget, also a no-brainer, you won't find anything better for the price (and you can even buy used, or sell the card to lower the price). If you MUST have component or composite connections, get the UMC-1. If you can afford a couple hundred more bucks ($699), I'd wait for the UMC-200 - better HDMI, Bluetooth, latest software, and However, if build quality is important to you (quality jacks, components, metalwork), you want a nicer display (larger, more informative), you want the next level up in stereo and multi-channel sound, you want the latest and possibly best room correction around, and you want balanced connections - then you want the XMC-1 (so you should buy the UMC-1 and get the discount card). Just don't expect for $500 that even with all the great features and sound that everyone will be satisfied.

Sounds good but how will it compare to the Denon AVR4810 with Audyssey? Tell me a little about the EmoQ.

Then the umc is not what you are looking for. I find the emo unit superior to denon on sq on all aspects. However you have to be willing to invest some serious time into getting it set up correctly. sent from my phone. sorry for the short response

Bottom line is there is no comparison between emo q and real room correction.
They are not in the same league.
Now tact on the otherhand. That is a whole new ballgame.

Finally some positive. I just got mine yesterday. Bought it from a forum member. I'm usually good about researching the life out of something but for some reason just jumped. He said the firmware has been updated and made it sound like it was a painful process. I asked him after i paid him. As i said, I never impulse buy anything. Must have been the IPAs kicking in. It was a sh,,,,ty week at work and a cold one was in order. So I'm happy to see so many with positives to say. Not connected yet Im waiting on some speaker parts.
