I remember the first time I ever heard that album. It was given to me by a Brit backpacker in Sumatra. I put it in my walkman and rented a motorcycle and rode all over Lake Toba listening to that tape. I can still picture the landscape to this day and "check one, Inspection!" Had to post a few images as thinking about that album brought up so many good memories!

Metallica - Death Magnetic Great songs. Reminds of the Metallica I grew up with. However, this has to be one of the worst examples of engineering I've ever heard. It's compressed to hell. Clipping is plainly audible. Metal is supposed to played loud, not engineered loud. apparently you're not alone. www.gopetition.com/petitions/re-mix-or-remaster-death-magnetic.html

No clipping, no distortion, so clearly there are masters somewhere that are "good". The GH3 rip isn't great (as good as an Xbox recording can be), but with a little EQ and level adjustment, it sounds much better than the CD...to me at least.

Radiohead - In Rainbows
I had been meaning to check out Radiohead for years. I was flipping through the TV one day a few months ago, caught a few notes of this song and had to stop to see what it was. Turned out it was Radiohead From the Basement - specifically the song was Myxomatosis. So, i went out and picked up Hail to the Thief and In Rainbows. I've only listened to thief twice, but i can't stop playing In Rainbows.

AC/DC - TNT
In the late 70s, I thought Bon Scott was something special as a songwriter and lead vocals. There's a clever catchiness to his words and engergy to his cadence. Thirty years later, I am quite surprised my observations of him have not changed.

'Til The End of Time' by DeVotchKa
Finally watched Little Miss Sunshine, and enjoyed it very much, and downloaded the featured song. I had not heard of this band before, but like it very much.
Not everyday you hear a song with a theremin that you would describe as 'moving'.

Yep, "Beers Steers..." is great. The Rod Stewart cover is from "Linger Fickin Good." They have a new album (rumored to be their last) coming out in a week or two.
Last night:
Bob Mould: Black Sheets of Rain Paul McCartney: Memory Almost Full
