Love the dual HDMI's off the OPPO 93. One straight to the TV and the other direct to the Onkyo for the sound. Wireless for updates and BB, Netflix, Pandora if we want.
2 channel analog's not superb but it's OK. ;D

Are you running 2 channel analog direct from the 93 or using an external dac??

Are you running 2 channel analog direct from the 93 or using an external dac?? I actually have the analog outputs going into my UMC 7.1 analog inputs AND also have it hooked up via coaxial to an XDA-1. For the most part, I prefer listening to CDs using the XDA with the UMC set to direct. For those times when I want my subs to participate I use the bass management in the Oppo and the UMC 7.1 analog connection also with the UMC set to direct.

And what difference if any is there between the direct UMC sound and running through the XDA??
Guess I'm trying to justify getting an XDA. Is that going to make any difference vs. running direct analogs from the 93 to the Onkyo. 93 dac vs. XDA dac.??

Is that going to make any difference vs. running direct analogs from the 93 to the Onkyo. 93 dac vs. XDA dac.?? I hear a more defined soundstage. That is, individual instruments seem more isolated from each other. I also notice slightly better high frequencies. Having said that, I could easily live with the Oppo alone. But I'm glad to have the XDA. When the XMC becomes available, I'll probably move to XDA to another room to use with a pair of Airmotivs. Lonnie told me at Emofest that with the XMC, there would be no need for an XDA.

Got mine this week, just finished watching "Unknown". Now I'm listening to Diana krall via HDMI. The sound is simply outstanding. I have my music and movies streaming from my DLNA server. The Oppo is decoding everything and passing is to the UMC.
Is there a noticeable difference between HDMI and analog outputs?

For multi channel listening, I do use HDMI. But for two channel sources, I prefer using the XDA.

Oh, just wanted to add that I'm running Serviio DLNA server. I can't find anything that the Oppo/Serviio wont play. I'm currently playing flac,avi,mp4,mkv and jpg files with no issues. Not bad for a FREE DLNA server.

Love the easy structure and speed off the Oppo. Tried my cd's on the Oppo with hdmi and analog and compared it to my Original(Ladiva) CD-A8T. The Oppo is good but no match for the Original. The Original has a 'warmer' and more 'transparant' sound. Did not expect the Oppo to win. I think for cd playing on a higher level you have to have the 95.

Yes CD discs sound great on the 95 .I have played many and most sounded of a higher quality than when I played them on my 93.
