Got all my Emotiva gear a few weeks ago but I have been waiting on a custom made rack to house them all, well it turned up yesterday... now I can finally get them off the floor.
I'm very happy with them all, it still amazes me how cheap they are (the exchange rate helped me there) for two XPA-1's, an XPA-3 and an UMC-1 cost me about $5800 NZ dollars landed, in comparison a single Marantz AV7005 retails for $4799 NZ dollars over here.

Nice looking rack you had made! The Emotiva gear just adds to the look. I bet the XPA-1's make those Jamo's sing. Enjoy!

Congrats on the new gear Guzz.I also have the c809's in a music only system, fantastic speaker for the price. I'm powering mine with XPA 3 right now but plan on going 5.1 and picking up XPA 1's. I would like to hear you're immpressions of how the Jamo's sound with the big monoblocks.

These are only my third set of speakers that I have ever owned, my first pair was a set of Paradigm Monitor 9's V2 (years ago) which I then later upgraded to a pair of Paradigm Studio 100 V3 which I kept for about 7 years, now I have the Jamo's, so the only comparison I can really make is to the Studio 100's. I'm not the best at writing reviews but I will give it a go.
In general the Jamo's sound more laid back than the Studio 100's, the 100's bass (possibly mid bass) is a bit more prominent where the Jamo's bass is a bit more recessed but goes a bit deeper, the highs on the Jamo's are really nice... in comparison the 100's can sound a bit bright on certain material when you up the volume and tended to leave me with listening fatigue after a while, but I don't get that with the Jamo's... I can listen at decent volume for long periods without any fatigue, my current room is only roughly 3 meters wide by 4 meters long so its probably not the best room for sound stage bit I get the impression that they would open up a lot more in a bigger room.
The Jamo's have only been powered by the XPA-1's so I can't make any direct amp comparisons, all I can say is that I was expecting the XPA-1's to be big brutes with all that power on reserve, years ago I had a Citation 7.1 bridged (450 watts X2 at 8 ohms) powering the Studio 100's and running it bridged changed the sound somewhat... its hard to describe but it kind of sounded like it was tightly wound up waiting to let all that power go, but the XPA-1's on the other hand sound very finesse... you wouldn't even know they have all that power on reserve other than the fact that they don't lose control when you turn up the volume, just like the Studio 100's the Jamo's do tend to like power so I wouldn't hesitate getting a pair of XPA-1's for your Jamo's.
