Needing alot more juice to see what 1.7's are capable of
The question may be moot...Cant really afford XPA1's dont want to go the "used" route. If you have XPA2 amp and Maggies...cheer me on if they did they trick for you! ;D

Should be a perfect match.

If my XPA-5 can power my two pairs of Magnepan IIIas with no problem, then the XPA-2 will have no problems with a set of 1.7s.

Did you guys knew that Magnepan speakers cannot be reviewed any longer in Stereophile?
It's because Magnepan feel that the measurements will reveal design aspects which they like to keep confidential.
That's right, Magnepan will submit their speaker samples for review only to reviewers who don't take speaker's measurements. And Stereophile, ...well you know as well as I know that measurements is a big part of their routine.

I have been rocking out with an xpa_2 and mmg,s for two years. my room is very solid plaster and is 12 by 18. very satisfying combination for my listening. I have not heard xpa1 but there have been several threads on this topic. if you are not familiar just remember down the road you can not bridge the xpa2 into 4ohm load.

Well, my new XPA-2 amplifier shipped today along with some black-out trim (I wish they had that trim in 3U). Plus the trigger expansion doodad, so I like blue lights what can I say? Yeah I had read about that but if I was going to go monoblock in the future it wouldnt be with another XPA-2. Who knows what they will have in 2-3 years from now...and the XPA1 may go down...probably not much. As for Stereophile I guess Magnepan has a big enough following and other marketing methods they will survive.
