Go for it! And if ever the UMC-1 is not to your total satisfaction, you got 30 days to make up your mind anyway. And at the price, it's hard to go wrong too. * The XPA-5; no problemo amigo. Welcome to the Lounge Wilson!

No 30 day returns on the closeout UMC-1. But go for it anyway!

Be warned there is no 30 day "I'm not happy" policy with the UMC-1 any longer. You buy it, you own it because its a clearance item.
Just clarifying that for you. I still would do it though, its great value!!

But with the newer 3D version, there is no such thing now, is there?

If you haven't already, I would take a look at the latest firmware thread and decide whether or not the UMC will work with your particular setup and if you would be bothered by any of the bugs it still has. Pretty much any unit that you'll look at will have some sort of bug; it's just nice that Emo has been proactively working on correcting them and making the UMC the best it can be.
For the price point it's at, it's pretty hard to beat if it will work for you.

Thanks for the responses guys. My setup will be simple. Will be connecting bluray, directtv , and a Sony CD changer via optical. I was going to buy a Yamaha receiver with pre-outs and just add a amp. But this deal on the UMC-1 has me thinking about just going seperates.

I can't see how you'd possibly regret getting the UMC over a Yamaha receiver. That combo (UMC and XPA-5) absolutely kills flagship receivers, and at a mid-range receiver price.

if your not planning on spending like $2.5-3k on a Receiver.....just go seperates.....you will be glad you did.

Bummer ! Contacted Emotiva to order the UMC-1 & XPA-5 and was told that the XPA-5 does not play well with my Axiom M-80 version 1 speakers. I know that the XPA-2 had issues with Axiom M-80's a ways back but was not aware of the problem with XPA-5 as well.
