Is there a way to get an email notification when someone responds to a thread that I started? I have emails allowed in my profile settings, but have never got an email.

I believe it is possible, but I just don't know how exactly. ... Hemster would know though. Ask him, PM him.

Do you just check the thread periodically to see if anyone responded?

Me? I try to keep track of all the threads in which I participate. Don't need emails, or just here at the Lounge alone that would probably mean about several hundreds of them, every single day! But I'm a regular here, so I take the time to recount each one of my previous days, and edit my typos and other mistakes of the sort sometimes, which is a great way to improve my typing and stuff like that. And not everyone does, but there are certainly few members here who do make a very nice effort in keeping track with the threads where they have posts in them. {By the way, I use only one finger when I post.} * In some other forums I get automatic emails from all the threads in which I posted, and each time someone is replying. But I post less there, even if I'm also a regular. You should PM one of the mods here and ask about your request. Because I believe that Hemster mentioned about that possibility in a not too distant past. Yeah, PM Hemster; he would be very happy to help you out. Meanwhile it takes only few seconds or so if you want to check only a thread or two to see if there are any replies. _______________________________ *** See, this is the proof that I revisited all my posts from yesterday, and that I keep track with everyone, and you. -> In most other forums people don't bother with that (they missed, they simply forget about it; but not with Bob, at about 99%, because sometimes it does take couple days before I find out about a missed reply, but very rarely). See, I'm on a mission from God. ...Blues Brothers...

Thanks Bob. I'm new to this forum. I only chime in occasionally on one other forum. With work and kids I don't have a whole lot of free time to be too involved. I too type with my two index fingers, so each post is a mission!
I'm buying a bunch of new Emotiva stuff so I appreciate the input from you all who have already been there. Although Emotiva is new to me, I've been in the audio game for quite a while and like to help when I come across a question that I feel knowledgeable about.
Since I don't always have time to police the threads, I'd like to get an alert if someone responds to an old post or something. Plus my memory isn't great. I spent 10 minutes tonight trying to find someone's post that I asked a question in.
Thanks for the advice about hemster. I think it's great that you guys take so much time to help out.

An easy way for me to check is to click on "profile", and under all your info you will see a list of recent posts by you. Click on one and it takes you right to the thread you posted in, and you can see any follow-up. I use this approach because sometimes I forget which section I posted in.

To get email alerts:
[glow=red,2,300]First[/glow] Bookmark the thread (it's on the left side of the bar directly above the first post)
[glow=red,2,300]Second [/glow]go to your "profile" and on the top line it will say:
Member's Bio - Modify Profile - Bookmarks - Social Networks
Click on "Bookmarks"
[glow=red,2,300]Third[/glow] there will be another bar that will say Bookmarks on the left side and Manage Bookmarks on the right side,
Click on "Manage Bookmarks."
[glow=red,2,300]Finally,[/glow] click the check box on the thread for which you want notification, and then select the type of notification from the drop down menu.
Good luck.

Thank you eltwo. I saw in there where I can change the default settings to get a email notification when someone post on any thread that I bookmark. That is exactly what I was looking for, thanks again
