I love the overall sound of mine; Couldn't be happier with EQ...a whole new world. I've have issues with the EmoQ and very loud test tones so much that I had to return one. Now all speakers are providing good tones except loud FL. Also sometimes gives fault reading at outset and fails to read my subs correctly. I'm so confused and I really don't want to do another return so I may just live with it until the new one comes out and deal with it then except there probably will be no new ones and I'll have to put my faith in repair. I sometimes get kooky responses from Tech support and I thought it was just me except another person I know pretty well and is more savvy than myself had the same experience. So, all that as given, I love the sound and EQ so much that I'm doing backflips about what I'm hearing. I have never used a separate processor before and I have nothing to compare it to so I'll have to leave it at this...The sound is phenominal. If anyone has words of wisdom or similar experiece, please respond.

Dude, you have 5 XPA-1s?! Wow, talk about *massive* power. I simply turned my volume level down to 30 when I ran EmoQ - I usually have it at 50-55 for normal playback....

RW, I run mine at 20 when I do EQ and all speakers except for the one FL are normal output; The result is scary, it starts out normally and then goes ballistic. The first few times I just covered my ears and ran! Be that as it may, its a pretty cool set-up with all that power and I think its part of what makes the overall sound so satisfying. The detail is amazing. Thanks for your interest, N

Doesn't it play back at a preset level regardless of how you have the volume set?

Yes, Monkumonku. When you calibrate the speakers within EmoQ there is no user control. Lonnie tells me that it sounds a lot louder than it really is and will not damage your speakers. It is the type of sound it emits that makes you think it is so loud.
I am not absolutely certain, but I think if you had a defective mic it is possible it could cause the speakers to play louder than expected, but I have been told that even then it will not damage your speakers. I think they said the loudest sound it will make is between 85 dB and 95 dB. I am sure a tech support person can give you complete info if you are really that concerned.

Odd that this only happens w/1 speaker. Never heard that. Yes, that does sound rather unusual. I wonder if the person used a SPL meter to measure how loud it was compared to the other speakers. Without knowing that, it is impossible to make an educated guess as to what the problem might be.

I'm thinkin' that with that much power, he can have a pretty girl stand in front of the speakers, crank up the volume and watch her clothes get blown off!!! ;D

Thanks, Nic
