Thanks Rather and N8, so far so good on the sound of things. I have officially replaced the ERC-1, the emo though is one heck of a bargain for how good that thing is. The Ayre is obviously more detailed and has a little more ayre around the instruments but for $350 used the ERC-1 is a super deal.

yes indeed. now for either a Ayre K5xe preamp or Pass XP-10. After the pre will be either a Pass X250, X350, or ayre V5xe. thoughts? both are great but that Arye preamp is understand is very good. I have not auditioned it, mind you, just going by what people I trust have told me plus the reviews. wow... I'm jealous. Beau coup congrats, man!

Well a great deal came up on audiogon for an Ayre K5xe so I jumped on it and now have one on the way. I guess that makes up my mind between the Pass XP-10 or the Ayre. So now the next question is Pass Labs X250, X350, or Ayre V5xe? What do you guys think?

I have snob audiophiles coming over to my humble home and system and leaving with an array of emotions from pissed (that I was right and the XPA-1s rock) to stunned from the sound. Of course, it's not solely the amps but IMHO they play a major role. I love it....... that said, if it must be from your list...... PASS LABS

Ya I have thought about the XPA-1's for a while but have always loved the look of the pass and the extra class A power over the emo.

Thanks, I have another thread about trying to split the output for my sub. Today is the first day after I realized the splitters/combiner were turing my stereo into mono. I thought man this K5xe sucks, then I figured it out the problem with the splitters and so far afterwards its sounded very nice. It will probably take about a year to get the budget back up to the point that I can afford the new amp.

Beautiful!!! I love the look of that amp, and the Ayre gear is sweet as well. Congrats Harri, you have a wonderful system. You should be very proud!

That is one sweet set-up. Congrats!!! Deserves better cables though. Find you a good deal on some Audioquest Colorados on Audiogon. You'll be glad you did.

Just wondering how you 'tame' the living room. For gears that expensive, don't you think they need to have a dedicated room?

I would love a dedicated room. The room is pretty large and has carpeted floors and plush furniture. Also the nearest rear wall behind the listening chair is about 12 feet. It sounds very good, I am sure a dedicated room would add a lot.
