Hi to All -
2 years ago my Yamaha MX-1000 went up in smoke , it was pulling main left and right channel duties in my "got it 1 piece at a time" HT set-up. After the smoke cleared, I replaced it with a Yamaha RX-V2400 that I was using in the Bedroom, and started the search for a new 2 channel amp, or 2 monaural amps. I looked at many different candidates from around the world, and attended Rocky Mountain Audio Fest the last 2 years. I thought I had made a decision at the end of last summer (Bel Canto), but the funding was the biggest issue, so I pondered my options a bit longer. More about my finances later. August of 2011 I was made aware of Emotiva and really started to put the whole company, (Products, Customer Service, Reputation, etc...) under the microscope. Long Story short I have purchased and received a XPA-5 and a XPA-2 since late December of 2011. I could not be happier with the products and the whole experience. Emotiva is a minority example of "Missing It Closer"in a world that has stopped trying to even aim at a target that might involve someone or something other than themselves.
I started my pursuit of sound reproduction nirvana in 1976 after High School. I purchased a Marantz 2325 receiver, a pair of Bose 901 series II , a pair of Bose 501 series II speakers, and a Technics SL-1300 turntable. The journey had begun. A few pieces here and there and, and a lot of years later the 2325 and the Technics are still in use. In some ways they have fared better than I have. During this journey I have become a Husband (to the Greatest Wife ever), Father (to 5 of the Greatest Children ever), a Disabled Veteran (Gulf War), and 6 years ago I lost approximately 90%+ of my Vision. This audio/video hobby has survived better than Off-Road motorcycles, and Firearms, although I still do what I can with both of the latter. It never ever matters what happens to you , it's what we do with what happens. The decision to participate in this forum was not made lightly, This Introduction has taken me over 4 hours to this point, needless to say I am slower than molasses. I have greatly enjoyed the last few months sitting in the room, if you will, with all of you, listening and seeing all the great photos and links. Now I have the opportunity to listen to the best sounding equipment I have ever had stewardship over, (for less than half the cost of the least expensive amps I was considering), while sharing in a part of the lives of a Great group of people. This will be a challenge for me (a good one), just like learning to drive, ride, and shoot again have been. It has been a blessing to not have to live at the speed of light for the last few years and SEE what really matters. We seldom if ever rise to the occasion, we merely fall back to the level of our training. Keep Learning, Keep Training and never ever ever give up. I will be around, and will chime in from time to time as I am able. I don't Instant anything, but I am persistent if nothing else (pain in the Butt).
Thanks for what All of You and my "Seeing Eye Family" have done for me thus far. I am truly blessed.
