If you're looking for an Oppo-93, here's your chance to save a few bucks... Refurbed units direct from Oppo (with full warranty) for $415.00 (plus shipping). Probably won't last long.... oppodigital.com/proddetail.asp?prod=ZBDP93

Prepare to gets TONS of junk mail and flyers. (Enjoy the free subscription, though!)

Prepare to gets TONS of junk mail and flyers. (Enjoy the free subscription, though!) I have gotten subscriptions from them before and I saw no increase in spam afterwards.I can't swear that you will for sure 100% never get anything because I seem to get some no matter what but I saw nothing that I cold attribute to the signing up for the subscriptions and I did not suddenly have more.I did get the magazines however.

I already subscribe to S&V magazine, but I *MUCH* prefer Home Theater Magazine... S&V has too much coverage on (so called) "Lifestyle audio/video" type small portable items IMO. Its also only 8 issues per year, and their equipment reviews aren't complete in the print magazine - directing readers to their website to get the d*mn lab measurements! (They're only trying to expose you to even more ads, and screwing over their *PAYING* customers in the process).
Pay the $13 and get a much better subscription to Home Theater Magazine instead, its 12 issues too.

Pay the $13 and get a much better subscription to Home Theater Magazine instead, its 12 issues too. I have not read a Home Theater mag in a long time but I just ordered a subscription ($6.95) to try them again. To be honest I am not completely satisfied with any of the A/V mags. I'm getting Electronic House again because I found a free subscription but they concentrate too much on super high buck home theater rooms and home integration/appliances type stuff. I get Sound & Vision but as you pointed out too much lifestyle stuff and too much average consumer receiver type stuff. I was getting Stereophile until my free subscription to it ran out and it was my favorite but they tend to go for too much crazy expensive high end stuff. They are better about incorporating more affordable but good performing equipment than they used to be however.I'll probably renew the Stereophile. While none are perfect I still like checking them out and get bits of useful information from all.Besides,if you can get them free what do you have to lose?

True enough - free is good! You're right though that none of these audio/video magazines are perfect, or even nearly so. I like HTM the best because it actually gives fair and in depth equipment reviews I think, and doesn't direct their PAYING customers to their website to get important bench test info like S&V does! But S&V (and HTM) are bothe relatively cheap to subscribe to, so there's little downside...

Amazon has a great deal with 305 tracks download for only $1.29! There are many many excellent tracks in the Big Baroque Box. All for less than the price of a decent cup of coffee! There are 305 tracks in total! Yes, they are MP3s but hey, for $1.29, an absolute bargain, IMHO
