Saw this new one today at Sony website, what is the deal for converting 2D disc to 3D disc? I am not a fan of 3D but its kind of nice if we owns many 2D discs already. Here is the note from Sony:
"Requires 3D content, 1080p 3D HDTV, 3D glasses, 3D emitter, and HDMI™ cable (at least 10.2 Gbps)."
Most of us have all these except 3D emitter, I guess?

2D to 3D conversion can be done by some TVs and/or players. The conversion can sometimes be pretty decent or just plain bad. Nowhere near as good as a film that was produced in 3D from the get go.
The 3D emitter is nowadays built into many TVs and its purpose is to synch the glasses to the picture.
