Great to see that he's confirmed what many of know already. These are superb speakers! His only knock is that they're available only in black. But it's not a laminate black that one finds too often on other speakers. It's a textured black that gives it an understated yet classy look IMO. Even though I received a high WAF for my Airmotiv6s, I wish we could buy optional grills for them - just to keep curious fingers of visitors off those tweeters and woofer. He also said "...so Emotiva will introduce a matching 10-inch sub early next year." Can't wait! That would be perfect for a small office. Kudos Emotiva, for another home run!

I received my Airmotiv 4s yesterday and all I can say is I am in sonic heaven. In a near field situation (as computer speakers) they are absolutely stunning. They sound damn near as good as my ML electrostats. They easily exceed my AudioEngine A5s on one of my other PCs.
Bravo Emotiva! You knocked this one out of the park!

I ordered a pair yesterday for my 14 yr. old son. I'm trying to show him that there's better sounding equipment out there than all of the products with that red "b" on them.

I've been considering a pair of Airmotiv 4's for my HT surround system. Anyone have experience using these in this way?

I've been considering a pair of Airmotiv 4's for my HT surround system. Anyone have experience using these in this way? If you are talking about for the surround speakers, I don't think it is a good idea. I recommend surround speakers that match the front three speakers with at least the same tweeter. You would have two surround speakers with power cables, very inconvenient in most rooms. Surround speakers should be up on the wall a foot or two above ear level. Also you would need to run two RCA coax cables from the AVR or pre-pro all the way to the surround speakers. I own the Airmotiv4's and they are super for near field use at a computer or in a small room for a stereo pair. I prefer conventional speakers for HT use, not powered monitors.

I've had my Emo 4s for a little more than a month now. I first hooked them up directly to my audio out on my computer..... I had high expectations and I must say they were missing something. They just didn't move me. Then, I finally purchased the XDA - 2 which allowed me to connect my Emo 12 sub. Now ... I am moved. I'm not sure how much of the change was the XDA vs the sub. In my opinion, the change to the sound quality was multi-fold. I fully expect to keep this setup for my computer / gaming for some time.

This is pretty much the exact set-up I'm looking at, except for a 10" sub. Didn't/Doesn't Emotiva make a 10" sub? Pardon me, I have quite a bit of catching up to do!

Currently they're only sub offering is the XREF-12. The XREF-10 is no longer available.
