1. Is there a way to integrate these three units to the best of their respective capabilities (USP-1 losseless volume control, XDA-1 for stereo sound, UMC-1 for surround sound)?
So basically I can use the XDA-1 as the stereo DAC, and the UMC-1 for home theater surround. Finally the front two channels (from the XDA-1 and the UMC-1) would be played through USP-1. I'm imagining, I use the remote on the USP-1 to switch between the XDA-1 and the UMC-1 front channels, and somehow set the UMC-1 front channels to output at full volume or something? Is any part of this at all possible?
I'm doing this so I can get the best stereo sound from my XDA-1 without a lossy volume control via USP-1. But use the UMC-1 for blu-ray. Assuming the UMC-1 volume control is worse than the USP-1, then I would like the front two channels to benefit from the USP-1.
2. I currently don't have a subwoofer, but I do plan to get one or two someday and honestly, I'm pretty clueless how it would function in the above setup. My main priority is two channel stereo with home theater coming in a little lower. So I would prefer the subwoofer to connect via the USP-1 somehow even for the blu-ray surround sound. Is this possible?

1. Yes; most of what you said is doable with the exception of using the USP-1 volume control when playing multi-channel audio. The UMC-1 volume control is used when multi-channel content is being played and the USP-1 just passively sends the signal through to the mains/sub.
2. Depends on whether you use the sub for 2-channel playback or use full range speakers for 2-channel and only use the sub for multi-channel/HT.

Hello all, New to this forum and this is my first post. I am from Switzerland and English is not my native language so excuse me for the poor writing This topic is very helpful for me but I steel need some more informations to help me connect xda-1, umc-1, usp-1. Is the usp-1 in HT Bypass when powered off? or do I need to turn it on when using umc-1? Can someone explain me how to trigger xda-1, umc-1, usp-1 for best use? Thx in advance Regards Geg

Thanks to the photos above, I just finished setting up the USP-1 and UMC-1 like I how I had circa 2010. My dear wife and I were listening to some familiar tunes and she remarked "this sound is nice, do you have a new toy?" USP-1 was in a separate system for many years now and used as my one of my headphone set up connected to an old TT and CD player.
I'm happy to have it back with the UMC-1.
My only (slight) beef is that Harmony 650's volume control for the USP-1 steps up and down in huge increments so I have to use the USP-1 plastic remote. But life is good!

There is a setting on Harmony Hub which allows the gradations of the volume up and down to be changed. Maybe it will work for the Harmony 650
