Finally splurged and got a new AVR, an Onkyo 1009. I've had it 2 weeks now and love it! I don't currently own any EMO merch as of yet but I plan on getting a couple UPA-1's and a XPA-5. Currently I am useing a couple Adcom GFA-555's and a GFA-2535.

The Adcom GFA-555 is one of the better products Adcom made. In tests it outputs 260 continuous watts per channel at only 0.007% THD into 8 Ohms (both channels driven). With a fan the Adcom GFA-555 will do 600 watts into 8 Ohms from 20 - 20,000 Hz at less than 0.04% THD when bridged. Its hard to see how Emotiva UPA-1s will yield much of an improvement over even one GFA-555. In addition, with four 200 watt channels from the two GFA-555s, and one 200 watt and two 60 watt channels from the GFA-2535 you have enough juice to run seven speakers in a complete 7.1 system. If you just want something new I guess I can see that. Good luck with your new AVR!

I'll eventually have them serviced but for now and near the same cost I can have some nice new/used Emo amps to add to the collection.
