Hi Emo guys!
I have been looking at Emotiva products for a while now, and just yesterday i found this site, and found a lot of good info!
I am on the waiting list to get a pair of XPA-1's. I also need a preamp, but I don't know if I should buy the USP-1 with the 10% discount, or I should wait for the XSP-1. Any comments?
By the way, they are going to replace my Acurus setup: Pre: Acurus RL11 Amp: 2 x Acurus A250 Used on a pair of Cerwin Vega 1215 MKII
I am looking forward to be a part of this forum!

The one thing is that the USP-1 doesn't do balanced inputs for what it's worth. But everybody I've spoken to who has got one is very pleased with it. What source do you plan to use?

For now I am only going to use RCA. Just purchased new RCA cables from BJC. I have a Primare 302 cd player. In the future i will maybe buy a Emotiva cd player.

Also, do you plan on sticking to your cerwin's? Because it's efficiency is rated so high at 97db/1 watt @ 4 ohms that you would likely not need anywhere close to 4000 true watts of amplification (!!) unless you are doing some outdoor setup. A lower power amp should still provide absolutely ear bleeding deafening levels of power, control and bass like the UPA-1 monoblocks or an XPA-2 at a fraction of the price.

If you know you are going to buy the XPA-1s, then I would wait for the XSP, as you could always use the balanced connections later. In addition, the rumor is that the XSP should have better SQ as well and will fit in nicely with a pre-pro, if needed.

Yeah the 1215MKII are my little babies. Actually I think it's 100dB/1 watt. I know it's probably 'overkill' but I see it like this; 'I've got the best speakers from Cerwin Vega, and I want to get the best amps from Emotiva' ;-) And I have 3700usd saved up to buy a pair of XPA-1's and a USP-1 :-)

You'll be surprised at how similar the sound of the U-series and the X-series are . They are both very high quality amps for the price.

jerrin: Yeah that is ofc right. And if the XSP-1 arrives in May, which is the same time they will have the XPA-1's back, i could by all three there. garbulky: I believe you are right, but the little voice in my head, just keep telling me 'by the brutal monsters, XPA-1'

So I guess in terms of upgradeability, they are pretty much all you need. Unless, of course you wait for the XPR series.

I don't think i can wait many more months for my new setup I have just sold my 3 Acurus A250 and my Acurus RL11. All i have left is a Nikko Beta 30 preamp and my Nad 218. So i will stand by the XPA-1's. And the XSP-1 if it arrives in May

You won't be dissapointed. In fact, some people say to start with the source first and then move your way out towards the speakers. That way when you upgrade the speakers (not saying you have to), you're sound will always improve and not change in unpredictable ways as you move up to better electronics in the future.

Those speakers you've got are 103 dB sensitivity (1 Watt @ 1 meter) with 4 Ohm nominal impedance and 1000 Watts RMS (1500 Watts peak). Be sure to upload a video of the LED meters on your XPA-1 monoblocks as soon as they arrive! lol

Welcome Yves, when you do upgrade speakers there's no shortage of great options close to home, I love my Jamo's and my USP-1!

Welcome Jyrgen!
I don't think you will regret buying the XPA-1's for your "little babies." The CV's like many horn speakers are many times slightly over rated for sensitivity (efficiency). You might find they are more accurately in the 92-95dB range. That said, in no way is this overkill. You are buying the best Emo has to offer and you have a very high quality CV European speaker, not the usual rock boomers sold in the US for $250. I think the UPA-1 will loaf along normally and supply the dynamic peak power if and when you need it, pristine and clean.
If you ever drive a different set of speakers you might be happy you have all that power.
I hope you will post photos of your setup when you get the XPA-1's installed. The XSP-1 would be a match made in heaven!

I've also got some Jealvox Sound Monitors (You've probably never heard of them, Danish speaker), so for now i'm not getting any new speakers. But ofc you'll never now what tomorrow brings When my Emotiva arrives, i will ofc post photos
