I'm not selling my UPA-7 either. Once I get the XPA-7, the UMC-1 & UPA-7 are headed for my bedroom theater. Contact Audioholics and see if they have a sample in use they can sell you. BTW, there is a member "Entity" is selling a 1 y/o UPA-7 for $700.00. Get busy ;D

Yea, the UPA-7 is one of the best amps I've ever owned in terms of sound quality, versatility and convenience. I'll not part with it any time soon.

I had no reason to believe that you'd be selling. I was trying give this guy a jump start. When people "belly ache" I just feel compelled to do something.

Indeed I love my UPA-7 and honestly if it doesn't sell, I'll probably keep it and send my XPA-5 back. I purchased the XPA expecting the full set of ref series to be more of a struggle for the UPA-7 than it actually ended up being. The 7 handles them all just fine, apparently I'm just not listening loud enough.

Maybe when the UMC500 is released Emo will also release the UMC-1 3D version and the way overdue UMC-1 3D upgrade module for the $198 price that was promised last fall.
Or not...

My system works great.....see components below.....I would like to have the ability to eventually use a 12 volt trigger so that I don't have to get up and turn the amp on......but that is a minor thing. I have no problem buying either an XPA-3 or 5 if I want the capability to go the processor route instead of receiver, but was hoping that this new amp would work for me because I really like the smaller chassis especially for height. The XPA amps may or may not fit where I want them to go. I do have an open shelf system, so ventilation is not an issue. I will more than likely just wait for the 4th of July sale.

I am pretty excited about all the new amps coming out. Its almost enough to make me get a umc1 now match it with a new amp then get xmc for main room. If I could sell my elite vsx33 I would probably get the umc....Lots of new exciting amp options coming out. ;D

Since the usp-1 is on sale, does that mean there is going to be a usp-100? Maybe....

I take Dan's response to mean that the entire Ultra Series line will be replaced with new models. Obviously, the same for the Reference Series as there is nothing Reference available right now. The X-Series line is been expanded. Therefore, if anyone is interested in the USP-1, it's advisable to get it now. It might just "run out" like the UPA-1

Here is a thought...get 2 x upa-500, then biamp the LCR and have 4 channels left for either 5/7 channels surround or 5 plus a 2nd zone.
Actually 2 x upa-500 would be a nice amp setup for linkwitz Orion's too....

For those who want an 11.2 set up can get 3 UPA-500s. Bi-amp the L/R and use the remaining channels for the other speakers. But getting 15 channels @ 80 wpc for $1,200.00 is a fantastic bargain. I would even think that Emo would sweetened the deal for someone who wants to get 3 UPA-500s in 1 purchase .

I was hoping they'd sex up the XPA line instead, but at the end of the day it's probably not a bad move one way or the other from a business perspective.

I dont think that they are "dumming down" the Ultra Series. I think it is more of a redefining the line and to make it distinct, separate and more affordable than the X-Series. You should not look at the reduction in power as a reduction in quality. There is very little performance difference between a 80 wpc amp and a 125 wpc amp. You'll need to look at the ThD, channel separation & noise and other measurements that define quality also . Anyways, what do you mean by; "... I was hoping that they'd sex up the XPA line instead..." I hope that I'm thinking what you are thinking. Nevertheless I am going to have to recommend you and Pauly for "Electronic Sex Therapy" administered by Chuckienut ;D.

Are these new Ultra series step up from previous model? Specs look weak in comparison from previous model and measured 1 watt? Previous Ultra series measured at max power and low THD.

Boy we are spoiled. lol A real 110W all channels driven into 4 ohms is a real F'ing amp. In all honestly I don't even look at 8ohm ratings but instead look at 4 ohm ratings to get a glimpse into the amp's current capability. Hard to find a AVR that can do that into 4 ohms without shutting down. As far as sexing up the xpa line, I thought that was the plan for the XPR line.

I have said this over and over again: For many folks, wattage is everything. This is the reason I spend a life time on this forum pontificating that perception has more value than reality. If you make folks think that they are getting something of value, they will FIND A WAY to realise "that something of value" This is marketing 001, jamrock's edition ;D ;D ;D.
