Hmmm, the UMC-200 huh? Come on Dan, give us a little info here! At least tell us what room correction/auto setup it has. Please?

I will say this, this is the only hi-forum that I read where I can get great customer engagement from an audio manufacturer, exec responses, including real discussions and early product announcements. For that I'm willing to forgive nearly any course corrections. THIS is what makes being an Emotiva customer so great! Please don't stop being this responsive and engaging no matter who complains... P.S.> I'm digging the 5 channel 2U aspect a lot for racking up MANY surround channels. Big space savings compared to 2 XPA-5 amps. Now about that 11.2 prepro...

This is information overload: UPA-500, UPA-700, XPA-7 & UMC-200. . . and this is just the beginning?

Man - this is amazing news from Dan...I have a lot of friends interested in getting into HT, and when I start talking entry price of Emo (as good as it is) - many say - "well, I wasn't looking to spend that much. I saw this Denon/whatever (AVR) at Best Buy - what do you think?"
With this new strategy, there will be some good options for the entry folks (or those looking to fill a 2nd system, like me!). And, us non-entry folks won't be left out either!

I never noticed the UPA-1 was on clearance. I do however remember when the topic came up that Emotiva hurried to claim that the UPA-1 was not been cleared and would continue to be sold. I would have bought 2 if I would have known they are discontinued. Too bad, the UPA-1 was probably the best product available at this time. Looking at the data and the enclosure of the UPA 500 and knowing a bit about power circuitry and accordingly the space given to this 5 channel amp in classic AB design, I am very skeptic about the chances of a UPA line under this design. Also because following this forum, customers seem to a major part be driven by the idea of output power. Anyhow, I also wonder why Emotiva takes products of the market when the replacement is not already available but several months (sometimes even years) from now.

Hey, I thought the UPA-500 was suppose to be 5 x 125 watts? Bootman's first post indicated that and nobody said anything different until reply #97 on page #5.
Now I see from the published specs it is 5 x 80 watts at 8 ohms. Hopefully that is at 0.1% distortion. So now the $399 price point is not so surprising to me. I see it has 100 watts with 2 channels into 8 ohms ...... and I said all those nice things about it. ;D ;D ;D
A big plus is it has a strong 4 ohm output at 5 x 115 watts, huge advantage over the typical wimpy/weak AVR receiver these days. I hope their ads point that out.
A good magazine review or two like in S&V and HT and 2RU/24lbs should sell a ton of these.
UPA-500|80W x 5. (This is the way I think it should be on the product page)

The UPA Series of amps & pre/pros are designed to target the entry level audiophile and budget AVR crowd. Not the person looking for prodigious power and sophistication. At least that is the impression I got from Dan's post #155 I guess that there are some products that sell so well that you don't need to announce a clearance sale. You just let them run out

Looking back the previous UPA-5 and the new UPA-500, what are the changes inside or in design? I'm interested to know the SQ between the two, if any. Higher watts does not translate to better sound other than it can play loud. Blind test between XPA-1 and XPA-2 calibrated on same level would not know which amps is playing. That is my 2 cents!

I think majority of consumers will say I want HT that is decent but I don't want to spend alot of money. Majority of these consumers were not critical audiophile other than they have something to play on their living room. The new UPA 500 will sell 3 times faster than similar 5 channel XPA-5. Why? Price followed by same topology as the bigger class XPA. As the power goes up, it changes from "U" series to "X" series then to the muscle amp the "XPR"

I have only very rarely seen someone buying 7 or 8 of them at once. So now I am stuck with 5 of those. And I guess I am not the only one in that situation. Not good. Not good at all.

I'm very interested in the XPA-100 and XPA-200 they announced. I understand it is a rebadged UPA-1 and 2. But I want to know what the upgrade is? Will there be a little bit more power involved? Will the XPA-200 have balanced inputs? (hallelujah!) Will they match the distortion specs and SNR on the X-series amps? If they do this right, I really think these two units will sell very well.

Well....I'm going to pass and stick with my Acurus for now. I was hoping for 125w all channels driven into 8ohms with maybe 175w into 4ohms.......I like the size but the power output is not for me.

There is a UPA-700 coming too if you can wait. Or you can check DYohn to see if he is willing to sell you his UPA-7. You might get a kick in the teeth. But, nothing tried - nothing accomplish. If you only want 5 channels, then go for the XPA-5. Man, you have so many choices and options, there is no need to cry? If money is an issue, look for members with XPA-5s and see if they are willing to make a deal. Many members will be upgrading to the Reference Series and might likely part with their current amp. C'mon man. Get creative ;D

As cool as all mono amps would look. other than that. Whats the point of having them on surrounds. Ohter that the VERY COOL FACTOR? Im not downing you? Im am just curious as to why you chose this route?

Have you called Emotiva to see if they have B Stocks available? Or get their demo units? I know that it is your choice what system you want. But other than the 'cool factor' how much power demand are your surrounds going to draw that an XPA-2 could not provide?

Since the usp-1 is on sale, does that mean there is going to be a usp-100?
