So I'm patiently awaiting the delivery of my UMC-1 pre amp, and had a how to question.
Let me preface by stating I understand the underlying principles of what I'm wanting to do, just not sure how to do it with the equipment I'll have.
What I want to do: Bi-Amp my PSB T55 loudspeakers I just purchased.
What I have to do it with: PSB T55's, Emotiva UMC-1, Carver AV705x 5 channel amp.
From what I've read in the user manual of the UMC-1, there is only a single set of pre-out's for the main L/R channels, is there some way in the configuration to assign other pre-outs to act as L/R channels, or do I need to split the channels from L/R L/R to L/R|L/R L/R|L/R?
I dunno, the answer is probably simple I just can't think it through for the life of me.
Cheers!

No way with the UMC to reconfigure the outputs. They are what they are. But I think you should be able to do want you want with "Y" adapters.

So you want to use a total 4 channels of the Carver AMP and BI-AMP the Speakers. in that case, you will need a quality splitter to split (or double up) the Front L and R to power a total of 4 channels on the Carver to the BI AMP your speakers.
Get The Emotiva XRCA-1x2 splitter .you can't beat the quality and the price. you won't find real high quality splitter out in any local store

Thanks, I kind of figured it would have to split the signal. I'll take a look!

What outputs do you have on the NAS? Those might give you some more options.

NAS, what NAS? lol.
I'm just going to use the RCA splitters like Dr Feel Good suggested, for 15 bucks can't go wrong. What are everyone's thoughts on Emotiva's interconnects, HDMI cables and speaker cables?

What are everyone's thoughts on Emotiva's interconnects, HDMI cables and speaker cables? Emotiva's X-series cables are very good for the money. There are better cables out there but you would have to spend three times the price to do better. And I've tried some that cost 10 times the price that were not as good. With cables, more expensive doesn't necessarily mean better. "Caveat Emptor"

Well I subscribe to the belief that your accessories will only perform as good as the weakest link of your system, therefore if I'm not using equipment that costs thousands of dollars each, I don't need the highest quality cables.
I've never owned a piece of Hi-Fi equipment before, so I'm quite sure what I have now will suffice for a long while yet.
