The only reason I went to see this today is because I stood watch as OOD on the USS Missouri several times many moons ago, & I thought that a nostalgic visit with the old girl might be fun.........
Big mistake. Really bad film, weak, illogical script, & unlikable characters (I was hoping the Aliens would win & kill off all the a$$hole humans). Decent CGI & strong LFE content should make it a good demo disc for HT systems. OTOH, sitting through this movie will be painful for anyone that's not already brain dead.

I thought I heard that real naval personnel were used in this movie. I guess that didn't help.

I'll wait for it to come out on Redbox if I watch it at all.

NBC news is now talking about one actor (serviceman) who lost both legs and is in the movie.

Had planned on going with some friends on Sunday. These are the movies that I tend to enjoy the most as I didn't know what to expect, and now that I have low expectations I won't be disappointed.

moookie1051:
Have you never noticed as a prior or retired military member most military style movies seem just a little lacking in the reality realm? I certainly appreciate your educated opinion on this lacking piece of history.
LCSeminole:
Didn't think of it that way. I guess if one has zero expectations all the movie can do is be better.

It never fails when I go see a movie that I have high expectations for, most of the time it falls short and I leave at least a bit disappointed. There are exceptions of course, but I now expect to enjoy "Battleship" with my low expectations. ;D

If you don't expect much, then a little tends to satisfy you.

Oh man, you and me both. Some of them just drive me insane! I especially like the way they wear their berets in the bad military flicks. Like in Transformers. Josh Duhamel's (and his buddies) berets are so jacked up, all floppy and sticking out to the side ;D Ridiculous.

I was stationed at Pope, but that was a long time ago. 1989-1994.
Thanks for your service.

You guys are my true heroes. Thanks for your sacrificial services to this beloved country of ours. However, this is my type of flick. Senseless violence, mayhem, loud explosions and the good guys win. Good acting and story line are as subjective as speaker preferences. I am eagerly awaiting the bluray release. My system is too spectacular and my theater too awesome to give these up for a dirty, noisy cinema.

I will certainly rent it when it hits blu ray. It's worth a night in my life and if it sucks, who cares. Not like I can mountain bike at night anyway. Actually...

They make some kick butt lights that are so bright they will run cars off the road. ;D And when riding at night it makes it seem like you are going twice as fast. Not really recommended on new trails though.
