I know of one trail in the area that is night ridable. I do it during the day and I see no way this old man is going to attempt it at night, at least not alone. have to find a group to ride with for that to be sure and safe. Some of them lights can really get expensive. Not as much as my Bike though, Specialized Stumpjumper 29er Comp.

Only a former soldier would know that, should I assume you served? As a retired AF NCO, the thing that always stands out in a military movie are sloppy salutes and out-of-reg haircuts, so happy to not have to worry about that stuff any more.

iceman66: totally agree. And thanks for your service also. Seems there are many of us prior military folks who are seekers of highend sound for a reasonable price. Thanks Emotiva!

Night riding can be fun but also dangerous.I wouldn't do anything I didn't know pretty well and even then I'd go easy.Hell, who am I kidding,I go easy everywhere because I'm just not that good. ;D Nice bike.I didn't spend anywhere near that much.At first I kept holding out for a dual suspension but they are a little pricey,or at least were. I finally caved in and bought a GT Avalanche 1.0 hardtail a few years back and it was a smart move because instead of waiting I was riding.I need to get my backside back in the saddle though as I have not been riding recently.

LCSeminole: Didn't think of it that way. I guess if one has zero expectations all the movie can do is be better. It never fails when I go see a movie that I have high expectations for, most of the time it falls short and I leave at least a bit disappointed. There are exceptions of course, but I now expect to enjoy "Battleship" with my low expectations. ;D This is how I enjoyed the train wreck that was cowboys and aliens!;D

I had a Rockhopper 29er and was very happy with it. Then the fork failed and after much debate and a great trade in quote I jumped on the Stumpjumper. Better components, lighter frame , 3X10 gearing how could I go wrong.
Cowboys and Aliens was a pretty good movie. However for me it was a rental.

I saw the movie yesterday. I had low expectations and I just wanted to see some military action. I was well served! (Spoiler)
The treat of the movie for me was when they fired up the USS Missouri, and took her into action. When her guns opened up(the barrels must have been 6' around and the shells could weigh over 2000 lbs each) it sent chills down my spine. The blasts of sound and smoke must have put fear in the enemy back in WWII. They had Old servicemen running her and they looked pretty authentic to me.

You guys need to learn to watch movies like children do. Throw out storyline, good acting, etc. Look for bright colors, much special effects, loudness, ugly bad guys and good looking good guys. Movies were made to entertain; to induce laughter and intrigue. And children seem to get a lot of that from watching any movie. Old farts (adults) are much too serious about movies. They're looking for something to explain the meaning of life. Something to bond with. Geesh! That is why the so-called better movies and best actor / acteress characters are seldom ever box office hits. To wit: My wife cried while watching Titanic. My son and I were laughing at the stupidity that the band kept playing while the water was covering them. Then one guy jumped off the side of the ship and missed the water but hit the exposed propeller. Yea, that was funny as hell. Now back to watching my cartoons!

There are movies and then there are movies... some suck more than others, some entertain more than others. For this old fart it's about being entertained.. whether that means cartoons, space fantasy, realism, unrealism, superhuman heros saving mankind, lifelike portrayal, sheer goofiness or slapstick.
In the end, it's about subconsciously escaping our own "reality shows" for a couple of hours, being immersed in a world wherein we forget about our own lives and walking out of the theater feeling a little more fulfilled.
Sheesh! I need my morning coffee!

I am the kind of guy who likes "terrible" movies along side the "best performance of the decade" type films. As long as I am interested, and entertained, I like a film. The ones I (seem to) enjoy most are the ones that cause me to emote in some way. For example, I loved Larry the cable guys film, Health Inspector. That movie is "garbage" by anyone's definition, but it mad me laugh...a LOT. The most amusing point of the entire film was that Dan never broke character. He was Larry the cable guy, stuck in the position of being the local health inspector. That's where the comedy comes from. IMO, of course. The first Fantastic 4 movie (by the way, Johnny Blaze id played by the same guy who is now Captain America) is also a film that isn't very good by "critic" standards. However, it's a ton of fun to watch. Huge action set pieces, nifty special effects, great sound design (with some awesome LFE), etc. The second Fantastic 4 film was rather "meh" though...not quite as captivating IMO. I think Battleship could fall under the same "banner" as the first Fantastic 4 film, the Transformers franchise, etc. And that is a big, dumb, loud, fun time at the movies.

I think I was the only one who thought they did a great job with the silver surfer. I was so impressed how much better it was than FF1. Though that's still not saying much ;D Now Transformers 3 in 3d was just incredible fun.

Every commercial we see is full of lies. Every movie based on a true story is loosely based. Our news is nothing but bias. Every movie can be nitpicked. I've learned long ago to hang my brain up at the door whenever I watch anything and just enjoy the fantasy. I'll buy Battleship just hear my sub do its thing. Sometimes, all it takes is a flash of nudity for me to remember a film. lol
