I know it's a pipe dream, but I'd love it if the XDA-2had ht pass through. Don't want to have XDA, XSP & XMC, as I might need to buy too much jewelry for my wife.
Maybe I can make a really simple manual switch.

Maybe I can make a really simple manual switch. If you are going to get the XMC-1, you may have no need for the XDA-2. The XMC-1 has 4 Optical Digital Inputs, 4 Coax Digital Inputs, 3 USB Inputs, and a Bad A$$ Headphone Amp. I think this is why Dan said that the XMC-1 is so good that it will cannibalize the XDA market.

I'm thinking....losseless volume control! High res USB You are correct!! ;D Dan What DAC chipset are you using in the XDA-2? Is it going to be the same Burr Brown being used in the XMC-1?

Quite possibly they will be using a more advanced chip for the XDA-2. Possibly the BB-1796. Just thinking out loud.

And losseless volume! Thank you for listening to our requests! Thanks Dan! Hopefully, it's in a price range I can afford because I would be all over it!

I like the sound of my XDA-1 directly connected to my UPA-2 than having USP-1 in the mix. XDA-2 is all I need that provide the conversation and adjusting the volume.

If the XDA-2 has nice specs then they get my money here too. I liked the XDA-1 a lot. it sounded better than the ERC-1 and made a nice transport/dac combo. The ERC-2 made the XDA-1 a moot point, and I strained to hear a difference. Sold it.
I'll have an ERC-2 to XDA-2 to XSP-1 to Hypex Ncore NC400 amp modules all balanced.
The only things I'm upset about are:
a) feeling like a trout on the line with the XSP-1, still. I don't think I will stick around for another delay. More time is more money saved for a nicer pre and I've already saved several times over by now.
b) the lack of Emotiva AES/EBU cables to go with their balanced AES/EBU gear.
I do like the gear though and I like talking up Emotiva among other people. I just wish they could be more forthcoming with what's going on.
Virtue Audio is a great example of a small audio company that tells their base exactly what is going on and causing what such and such delay, etc. It creates more loyalty, not less, by doing that.

Virtue Audio is a great example of a small audio company that tells their base exactly what is going on and causing what such and such delay, etc. It creates more loyalty, not less, by doing that. Prior to the launch of the UMC-1, Emotiva were very transparent when discussing their product development, and release schedules. Due to severe backlash from online communities regarding street dates getting pushed back, they have stopped the open flow of internal information, so they can focus on getting products ready for market, and to ensure they are up to Emotivas high quality standards. This is 100% understandable IMO, and I applaud their decision to focus on product development and perfection, rather than trying to hit a street date that everyone is expecting. I have to admit that I was disappointed to see the XMC-1 get "scrapped" and redone, but on the other hand, I felt that as a consumer, it is going to be for my benefit in the long run. The XSP-1 will emerge as a better product, and that equals a "win" for both Emotiva and the end user. Regarding the XDA-2. I am excited for this product as well. Very excited to be honest. I am on the "lookout" for a fully (true) balanced DAC and headphone amplifier. I am hoping that the XDA-2 will improve upon the limitations of the XDA-1, and prove to be a true "giant killer" for the industry as a whole. I know that sounds like a lofty goal, but please refer to Emotiva's amplifiers for proof that they CAN do such a thing. Dan, thank you for chiming in on this thread. I have VERY little headphone amplifier knowledge, but I believe that a headphone amplifiers ability to drive a wide variety of headphones, comes from its output impedance, and current delivering capabilities. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. Also, I am under the impression that HP amps that are excellent at driving low impedance 'phones aren't the best for high impedance 'phones...and "vice versa" so-to-speak. Regarding the XDA-2s headphone amplifier section: Will it be designed specifically to drive certain types (or impedance's) of various cans, or will it be adjustable in some way to drive ALL types of cans with "proper authority"? Also, can you (or Lonnie, or anyone at Emotiva) please confirm what DAC will be used in the XDA-2? I am hoping for the SABRE32 Reference ES9018 DAC. Hey, a guy can dream can't he? ;D This will also eliminate my undying "need" to get the Oppo BDP-95. Any input/information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, -Dave

We asked before to paint the picture for 2012. Emotiva can do better. Hundreds and hundreds of pages on the board are spent with questions and questions easily answered. I am also planning to use the ncore amps. In podcast of may the XPR-5 again Lonnie announced its coming.... but still no information what the specs are. Jerry

@gs
Yeah you know what's up. I expect them to take every award possible for those amps. I'm hoping that my balanced Emotiva source is suitable. I'm banking on it, but they say the amps will reveal just how good or bad your source is.
Also planning on putting a reclocker between the erc-2 and xda-2 to greatly reduce jitter. We'll see how it goes. Hoping for spectacular results.

Well, if I do end up doing a full surround theatre, and the xmc doesn't have any issues, then it will be a no brainer. I have no plans to build a fancy ht, my main listening is music, so my stereo is top priority. Already got the speakers I wanted, the ERC-2 stays, I have an ldr which is my preamp right now but will see about using as gainstage for xsp...
As far as ht, it's a low priority but when I get around to it, can't see any pre as interesting at this point as the XMC.

As far as ht, it's a low priority but when I get around to it, can't see any pre as interesting at this point as the XMC. What is interesting abt the XMC other than TACT which we dont know its implementation yet and POSSIBLY iphone apps? I've been waiting for the full specs for a long long time.. AVRs with confirmed XT32, dual HDMI out, DSX, LFC, iphone/ipad apps.. are getting to look more tempting with and if their replacement were to come out before or around the time of xmc, non emo fanboys will think twice.. espescially since with AVRs, u can save power amps for non critical channels and allocate more budget to the front 3 amplifications..

What is so interesting about dual HDMI, DSX, LFC, and iPhone apps? (Seriously...who cares about turning up the volume with a phone). AVR's still have the same crappy amplification that they've always had, and the non audyssey fanboys will think twice.
See what I did there? Some people will enjoy playing with real time graphs on a PC that are given by TACT. Maybe some others will enjoy the 7.2 balanced outputs. Not everyone shares your way of thinking about what is important in a pre/pro. For some people, the features and quality that are supposed to be in the XMC-1 are exciting.

I'm not saying the XMC will be bad but I honestly want to know... other that TACT, what is thing abt XMC that is supposed to make it great? I guess I'm just frustrated for the long wait and during this wait, just like waiting for ur dream girl, u tend to look arround for options currently available... then u start to feel unsure abt waiting longer... need something to re-ignite my initial enthusiasm for the XMC. what guys?
