I am certainly a music nut and for most of my life I have been listening on a set of headphones (never room for a stereo system).
My music taste is fairly diverse (Classical, Jazz, Funk, Rock, Blues, etc.) I use to attend more live shows when living in San Francisco, that changed when I moved to Florida.
I am a very skeptical and research orientented person. I take very little of anything at face value and always ask WHY. In fact (when it comes to buying stuff) it can take me weeks and months of research and I will never buy something if I don't understand the why and how first.
I am also frugal (not cheap) - I like to get the most out of my investments. I also avoid brand wars or even worrying about the brand. For me it is less about brand and more about quality and customer service - but you KNOW that. Most people here have bought some Emotiva gear - they KNOW about quality and customer service. Which leaves me to believe that most people on here are fairly liked minded.
I am also humble enough to know what I don't know - so I welcome suggestions and criticisms.
Thus began my journey to building my stereo rig - which brought me to Emotiva. The forums are a big help and the customer service at Emotiva is 1st rate. I have bought several products from Emotiva - first was to build my home stereo system, which is powered by two UPA-2s and I current use the XDA-1 as my DAC. I just finished my speaker building journey and posted it in the DIY section:
emotivalounge.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=diy&action=display&thread=24562
I am just starting down the road of building my Home Theater System and have already ordered some MORE equipment from Emotiva: 3 ERM 6.2 speakers (front and centers) as well as the UMC-1 processor. I will be buying some more speakers and an amp later this summer as I start that project. I will most likely post the progress in the HT thread on here when I break ground.
Right now I am just trying to finish up my stereo system - which is 99% complete.
For me - it is the journey and the music I enjoy along that journey.
Thanks....
