So after months of wondering what to do I decided to go with an XPA-5 in my system. I also threw in a XREF-10 just for fun, for the movies since my other sub can get pretty low. Of course I cant have fun with any gear till I get back from deployment.....it will all be lonely at my neighbors house, which I have a sneaking suspicion he may try it out on his setup, ha! Now my question is will I see a huge difference, since all my speakers are going to be on Emo Power, if I change out my Marantz for a UMC-1? Thanks again and I cant wait to hear the new toys when I get back! ;D

Congrats on the XPA-5. It's an awesome amp. I don't think I'll sell mine for quite a while. I'm positive that you will hear a pretty good difference compared to the Marantz AVR powering your speakers. Especially in big dynamics at high volume.
Honestly, going to the UMC is a little risky imo. I have no doubt that it would offer better SQ than the Marantz (especially with two channel music) but the question is whether or not you will have problems in your system. You just won't know until you try it.
With that being said, since the latest update, mine is pretty much problem free and I enjoy the heck out of it every day. I have no plans on selling it, even when the XMC comes out. I'm not into HT nearly as much anymore, so it offers everything I need in a HT prepro. It sounds great, looks great, it's easy to use, it's very flexible in it's settings, and now it's just as reliable as any other prepro that I've owned.

Pauly's absolutely rite about the UMC-1 having it's moments, I personally haven't experienced any of the older issues as mine already had the new software pre-installed. It can still be a little testy at times but nothing to lose any sleep over.
I replaced my Onkyo 3007 with the UMC-1 and like Pauly I've been enjoying the heck out of everything ever since I installed it.
You may be happier with the UMC-1 over the Marantz, but there's only one way to find out.
