I have a lot of bad movies that I never finished watching and quite a few that I've seen five times or more. On average, I probably watch a movie once but there's a wide variation depending on the movie.
Netflix and other streaming services make it easy to watch lots of stuff without making a financial commitment. If I really like a Netflix movie, I'll buy it on blu-ray.

Need an option here for renting based on many of the responses in this thread. I also quit collecting some time ago and rent. Redbox is soooo cheap.

You have left out a demographic:"I have a kid".
I have seen most of the Disney and Pixar movies again and again. Doe example I have watched Cars I & II probably ten times each, and have been in the room while they were playing fifty times each. Then the SuperHero movies come next, lots of views there. My Son has played the Transformer Series a hundred times.

Like many others have said - 'it depends'... Usually 3 or 4 times. Some only once. Others (National Lampoon's Christmas vacation, Groundhog Day, Band of Brothers, The Pacific, etc.), probably more than 10 times. I buy what I think I'll like, keep what I like trade with friends, and sell those I don't like, or am tired of on eBay. I use the review sections on Blu-rays in Home Theater Magazine and Sound & Vision magazine to get a good idea of what's good, and they're usually 'spot-on'. Don't like streaming - takes up too much bandwidth, audio is average (at best), and the video is somewhat compromised. You'll never beat the actual Blu-ray disc for the best reproduction in your system. And I need a GOOD audio & video experience - even for crappy movies!

BTW, I think that I've watched "My Cousin Vinny" 100 times, "Rio Bravo" 101 times, "For A Few Dollars More" 20+ times & Blazing Saddles" 1001 times. I'm addicted to bluray quality and I just felt the need to clear up my record ;D
