How about SACD on any replacement for the ERC-2? That would be my request.....

I too would like to see this, in addition to being a five disc changer.

No changer! True audiophile's don't use that junk.
The Erc-2 is so good and I think if SACD was in their plan it would have been there day one in the Erc-1.
No, Emotiva needs to come out with an awesome, audiophile quality hi-rez file player.

While i don't disagree with the desire for more features and capabilities in the successor to the ERC-2, I would much rather see the R&D engineering team at Emotiva devoting their full energies and resources to the successful launch of the XMC-1 and XSP-1.

While SACD is superior to CDs, how many people are using them? There's still not a strong offering in that format to warrant it, IMO. Maybe a BD-A interface of some sort, but all my BD-A disc have some sort of video menu that would be difficult to navigate without a monitor of some sort.

Sooooo,...why isn't music released on Blu-ray disc? I have to believe there's a market for it 'out there', and I'd certainly go for it myself, because music on Blu-ray sounds BEAUTIFUL! Everyone's got a BD player now, where few have a SACD, or DVD-A capable player. Seems to me like there's a market for this.

I wish it was... with a standard, non-video menu access. I agree that BD-A (along with SACD) sounds awesome!

Because the market for disc is becoming smaller with each passing day.
I find it hard to believe that there is a big enough market in SACD for Emotiva to bother making another CD player a year after the last one was released.

The one Emotiva piece of electronics I haven't bought is the ERC CD player because it just plays Redbook CD's and I could not justify the price or space of the unit compared to what I already own or other the market alternatives. The ERC-2 was disappointing because it did not include other audio formats. I kept my Pioneer DV-48AV multiformat disc player and added a Sony BDP-S780 player.

I saw the ERC-3 mentioned today in another thread. Did anyone catch some tidbits about this when they were at Emofest?
I'm not sure what you could improve on without going to a new DAC and or a completely different architecture... Mark

No mention of any upgrade to the ERC-2 was made. I think you are going to see a media player as the next media source before any change to the ERC-2 is made. Purely my speculation, though.

I think you are right. There was a prototype for the media player at Emofest (versus none for the ERC-3) and I think the potential market for it is probably larger than a CD player (though I'm still firmly in the CD camp myself!) I base this on my conversations with Emo staff. The impression that I have is that the media server is not too far away... for E, that is.

I'm wondering how they could top their last one. From all accounts it's a fantastic player. Maybe it's going to be an XDA-2 + a CD drive together and play DVD-audio and SACD?

Maybe erc-3 will have 3 functions: Play CDs, be a DAC and play music over network.

My guesses are new DAC, SACD support, whole new architecture, or some combination of the three.
