Yay Me!
I found a very nice guy that has a set of Focal 836V speakers that he bought during the Ultimate Electronics sale a year or so ago.
They are ebony, just like I wanted.
He agreed to let them go for $1150.00 USD. A very fair price.
So now I will have four matching speakers for my living room with the matching series (CC800V) center channel as the fifth.
Soon after this, I may be on my way to the matching (dual) center channel that we discussed in the other thread.

I shipped him my box and a check tonight. we will have to ship them in two lifts. He has no boxes and I have only one.
An interesting side note:
UPS quoted me $58.49 to ship empty box Colorado to Missouri and between $65.69 - $74.19 to ship speaker back in same box.
At the UPS depot today, I paid $52.32 empty to Missouri and $39.70 for the return trip loaded with 69 pounds of speaker at an $800 insurance value.
The CSR said that they offer loss leader prices from some destinations as an incentive to increase business.
That is a huge difference. It pays to ship from the UPS depot rather than the retail store...

He has a giant cavern of a room, his tiny little center channel isn't enough.

I'm a big guy with only one small center channel and none of my girlfriends has ever complained.

Chuckiienut
After looking at your new "hat" I wondered if you will have XMC-1 tattooed to all of your appendages? ...big and small?
It is good see you back in action on the Lounge. I was beginning to think you got lost chasing girls in Japan. ;D We have missed your sense of humor and your astute observations.

You don't upset me friend. I am sad to see that your beloved is ill. I hope that this is just a "bump in the road" on your trip to bliss.
I am excited to see the new speakers arrive (one at a time-drat). They will afford me an opportunity to enjoy my room to a higher degree.
I too, am concerned about how the box will weather the four trips back and forth. I reinforced the sides with some high impact cardboard sheeting and added additional padding to be used as needed. I will most likely build it up with packing tape upon it's completion of the first round trip.
Hopefully the foam and cardboard suspension system within the box will protect it's contents. We will see.

The first of the new 836V speakers arrived yesterday afternoon.
The box is a little worse for the wear, but the speaker seems immaculate.
I will send the box back on the third leg of the journey today after picking my offspring up from school.

I would reenforce the hell out of those boxes, even go as far as duct taping the entire box, just to make sure nothing goes wrong... Good luck Dan

Second speaker arrived yesterday morning. Appears flawless. I hooked them up this evening. They sound better than my current ones. I know that sounds ridiculous. I think I may have some issues with my original speakers. Tweeter issues...
More tomorrow. I did put them into service. Having the big towers as surrounds REALLY rocks in my space. It was a great idea.
More tomorrow. Yay Me!

Wise move, DS! You will find that your surround-sound experience is much better using matched speakers all-around. It provides for a much more cohesive and immersive experience. I know that my system took a major leap forward when I swapped out my Gallo Dues for the Gallo Ref. AVs for rear and center...
Good on ya!!
